God, insecurity is expensive. They better be made of gold for that much. And why not just grow it?

I couldn't not that is just crazy. As well, I think that the Brandi girl is way prettier with her natural length and hair color.

You know ... I prefer her with her real hair. It looks healthy and thick to me ... at least from that angle.

I can see the ooomph that she feels the extensions give her.
She went a little to far with the length though. Her
natural hair is a little boring to me.

Her real hair looks fine to me, but whenever I see something like this, I think of Carrie in Sex and the City when her apartment building was going co-op and she had no money for a down payment: "I have $40,000 worth of shoes, but no place to live."

Now, this woman might have money to burn, but, again, when I see something like this, I think of what one year's hair budget for someone would mean to a soup kitchen or youth club, but that is just me...

this is what i don't understand about wearing weave for the sake of hiding your own hair (not for protective purposes!)
all that money & she could grow her own

that is way to much money to spend on hair extention. I could do so much more with the same amount of money

Whoa...thats student loan $$ right there! I love my weaves but I just couldnt do it..not for that price..sheesh!

Ok I'll bite. The first thing I thought when I clicked on the link was...
I'm glad she wasn't black :sekret:

I was so lunching when I used to charge $40-$60 to put in braid extensions. :nono: Why didn't I meet someone like her that I could've convinced her that she'd look good in braids and made a pretty penny. :wallbash: As much as I hate braiding other folk, if anyone is happy to pay me this much, I'll sacrifice a whole week to give perfect braids. :look:

This is the exact reason I want to stay natural and relaxer free and weave free! The cost for doing them is soooo much. even when I get to WL I only plan to spend less than 300 a year on good products.

I read that foolishness yesterday in the new york post. $47,000 is a lot of money to be spending on some hair that was donated in a temple & I thought extension plus was expensive. SMDH:nono:

I know a ton of NYC stylists who could have hooked her up with flawless fusion extensions for about $500 plus the cost of the hair. She did not have to spend $10K on ONE set of extensions.

I agree, her insecurity is expensive!

"We recently reported that the average woman spends roughly $50,000 on her hair over the course of her lifetime. And on Kate Gosselin's $7,000 hair extensions.

Brandi Irwin has both of these jaw-dropping stats beat.

The 28-year-old New Yorker reportedly spends $47,000 in a year on her long locks -- an expense that could amount to $1.4 million over the next 30 years, all for an extra 24 inches of hair.

Every time the former model steps into the Gemini 14 salon in New York City, she forks over $10,000 for hair extensions, which she gets done three times a year. Add to that her color sessions every six weeks at roughly $300 a pop, twice a week blow-outs at $65 each, plus tips and cha-ching! This woman spends as much in one year as most women spend in a lifetime.

"It's my biggest expense," Irwin told the New York Post. "But it makes me feel beautiful. And I've worked hard for what I have." It seems her family has also worked hard to support her tumbling tresses that cascade down to her hips. Irwin stated that her parents made some very good investments when she was younger.

What makes these extensions so expensive?

Apparently, they're made from "virgin" or unprocessed hair that Indian women donate as part of a traditional Hindu practice where they sacrifice their beauty. The locks are then sold (by the temple for a pretty price), carefully de-pigmented without the use of chemicals and bonded with a keratin protein polymer, which helps them to last longer and look more natural than other brands.

A process that Irwin says is well worth the price.

"Without the extensions people say, 'Well, she's cute,'" Irwin remarked. "You add all this hair and it puts a 'Who is she?' factor on me. Without the hair, I'm this normal average person. But with it, I walk around the corner, and it's like there's a wind machine on me. It's like I've stepped off the pages of a centerfold."

Other Gemini 14 clients agree. "If you want to look like a million dollars, you have to spend 10 grand," stated 27-year-old makeup artist, Kate Bazazian. "If you spend 50 bucks, you're going to look like you spent that."

But hair extensions are not just for the rich and unfamous.

Nearly every Hollywood star has faked it at some point according celebrity stylist, Patrick Melville, in an earlier interview. "If they don't have them right now, they have used them at one point in time -- celebs like Britney Spears and Fergie, for example." And let's not forget Miley Cyrus, who, it just so happens, frequents the same big-ticket salon for her mountainous mane. See who else wears hair extensions.

What do you think of women who spend so much on their hair? Are they crazy, or is looking good worth the cash? How much you spend on your hair per year?

And if you're into trying extensions yourself, watch our video on how to insert them into your own hair, below. Believe it or not, it's pretty easy, and a mere fraction of the cost or pricey salon extensions."

Some people do not even make $47,000 a year and this broad SPENDS this kind of money on extensions?:nono: That's crazy.

I am loathe to judge how others spend their money, but for her sake, I hope she has savings and (non-hair) investments . . .

Shucks she could have gone to see Reniece and Company ....not only would her weave be off the chain - whatever is wrong with her hair (I couldn't see anything) would be eliminated to the point where she would be confident enough to wear her own hair ....

For 47k I was expecting better than what I saw. She is waisting her money. I am sure I could do a better job for a fraction of the price straight to my pocket. She needs to give me a call...she gets the long hair and I get some cash, everyones a winner!

like helll i would thats a brand new car in this brawds head is she aware she got a car on her dammn head ,a mortgage,a mom and pop franchise, a boat...........lord why are the stupid people always blessed with money:wallbash:
