Is that about right? I went into a local Dominican shop and asked the price for a blowout and the lady looked at me, touched my bun, and said, "For you? $45."

So I was just wondering is that about the going rate...

 from my experience dominican blowouts are suppose to be cheap like 15-25 but then again, most of us on here have longer thicker hair then most and for that reason they'll charge us more:nono:

Thats why I'm a DIYer because when your hair gets super long and thick is stoooopid expensive to get it done lol

Your hair looks great btw, nice long and thick:yep:

In NYC, that would be considered way too much. They usually charge $20 for a blowout. I think the most they should charge (considering your length) is 30. I wouldn't be suprised if she charged you that much just because your hair is long and thick.

$45? When did they get that expensive?? I went to a Dominican Salon with my cousin to get a blow out and I looked at the woman like she was straight crazy when she said $23. Sufficed to say, she ended up getting her hair blown out for $21.

I think it depends on where you live. I believe in the DC/MD/VA it's like $25-$35 and up. Somewhere in that ball park.

See this is why I go to salons with my hair in a tight, janky bun. I get them to write the quote down on the back of a business card, go home and schedule an appointment...then come back and unleash the beast. Jaws hit the floor when I take my hair down. And they fall for it every.damn.time. :lachen::lachen::lachen:

Also, please don't get that harsh blow-out on the regular:nono: my cousin went from hair just like yours to a chewed up apl because she relies on the dominicans for a blowout every week....makes me so sad when I see her remembering where her hair was at *sighs*

I think she is trying to pay a past-due light bill or something! That is a lot of money. I pay $25. But then again, I live in Queens. Maybe if they had more competition, their prices would be cheaper.

For that price, I could get a relaxer, deep condition, trim, and leave the chick a tip. In NY.

DMV is on some ole other stuff charging like $25 to $35 just for a blow out.

lmfaoooo!!:lachen::lachen::lachen: BRILLIANT!!!:clapping:

You should see the African hair braiders when I used to go to them, (before I learned to do twist extensions myself) they be like:

African Hair Braider: "so we're gonna start off by cutting out the tracks"

Me: "......um this is all me maam"....:thud:

My hair WAS in a tight, janky bun!! :lachen:

That's how I wear it every day LOL....

I know...I went in outta curiousity more than anything. Plus the place was recommended on the Salon Review forum so I just HAD to stop by there cuz I did NOT expect Columbia, SC to have a Dominican shop so I was kinda intrigued lol :look:

I also wanted to see what the girls' hair looked like who were getting their hair done in there. And of course I wanted to know what they were going to quote me. But I thought it was gonna be like $25. For that much money I might as well just go to Too Groovy. Although I can press my own hair pretty good, I've only been to the salon once this whole year. It's about that time for a professional trim again, so I might as well go back to Too Groovy for that I guess...

My relaxing and deep conditioning cost $40 alone and I could get the blow out for free.... (which I haven't done in years). Wash and set and blow out is $15. They always ask if you want a blow out, no matter what you are doing... even if you come in for a $5 trim... Their blow outs come out amazing. How ever I do live in the Bronx, and there are about 5 Dominican hair salons in a 4-5 block radius.

The Dominicans got me.....just like the other few hair salons i've been to in my lifetime. I was charged $100 at Elia Salon uptown (Harlem area). Yes, $100 for a regular dominican blowout. I know I have a lot of hair, but damn. So IMO, $45 isn't all that bad.

FYI - My hair broke off after that. I was grateful that my texture returned, but never again!

if you are not in NYC or an area with many dominican shops ..then yes that quote seems about right.

For my natural hair, dominicans always charge me $45.00. I live in Atlanta and this has consistently been the price, one Dominican salon even charged me $55.00.

And if I recall correctly, we're about the same length, right?

They charged me about the same last I went (3 years ago) so I can't imgaine what they would charge me today!

I was told 55.00  and i dont have thick hair at all :ohwell: The owner said for fully natural they charge more because it takes longer.

I agree. Dominican blowouts start at $35 in my area, and that's for relaxed hair w/o the deep conditioning treatment. I could only imagine what they would charge for long, thick, natural hair...$45 seems right to me.

Well, this Dominican shop is in Columbia, South Carolina....:look:

So $45 for a Dominican Blowout in your area is probably the going rate. Prices (though some high and low) just differ depending on the supply and demand of where you live.

YES, my old Dominican salon tried to charge me $45 for a long hair fee. And I'm in Philly so its not like they're the only one.

I know women would get a blow out every week, even if they just got a perm or had no new growth. And they would get a full blow out too not just the roots, I never knew why.

I was told 55.00  and i dont have thick hair at all :ohwell: The owner said for fully natural they charge more because it takes longer.

When I was natural, they said they would charge $20 to blow out my hair but that was in Brooklyn.

When I was living in MD, they told me that they charge 45 just for a wash and set, I didnt even mention a blow out. Those prices made me become a DIY real quick! Your hair is beautiful!

LOL, mind you might find some/few places that charge that but the prices go up! I have a friend with probably bra stap length natural hair and in MD it costs her $45, and in NY it's $25 (she's from MD, but lives/works in NY). I had another friend that lived in DC but would go to NY every 2 weeks or so to get her hair done up their since it was so much cheaper, and because they had way more Dominican salons. She would of course be en route to see her boyfriend in NJ, so she made that trip worth it.

You NY'er are lucky ducks!! I wish I could just walk up the street and pay half the price to get my hair done. :yep:

I think it depends on the area, I live in florida and I paid $30.00 for my necklength hair back in April but my friend said she paid $25.00 in NY for her past SL hair.
