I think there is something wrong with me. I'm am terrified to relax or put heat to my hair. I keep pushing back my texlax date. First of all I am style challanged. I never knew how to do my hair. All I ever did was put it in a ponytail. I got a job just so I can go to the hair dresser. I cannot part straight nor plait my hair. Yes its bad. I am 40 years old and I cannot do hair. The sad part is I no longer trust others to do it. I had a hair dresser that worked with my OCD and always did what I asked her to do. She made my hair looked nice. When I would get out the chair other patrons would asked her to emulate the style on them. I used to dye my hair blonde and still would have hair almost BSL. Now she is gone. Here's my problem I do not know what the length of my hair is since I had a setback from a lying sneaky dominican stylist. I have never even flat ironed nor blow dried my hair. Let alone I don't have the tools to even do it. I want to do a length check. But the only way I know how is to pull the hair down my back and take a picture. But I also know that if I straighten my hair it would not be the exact length. I believe it would be shorter. I am currently 16 weeks post. I am just scared to do my own dang hair. I know I have to start somewhere but where?

I say start with YouTube videos. There are a lot of helpful ones about flat ironing and self-relaxing.

Yep, that's what I was going to say. Watching a variety of people on YT has been a great way for me to learn how to do things to my hair I never would have thought I could do --- namely going natural! But besides that, trimming my own hair, coloring my hair myself, creating my own hair recipes...now I don't feel like I have to let anyone else touch my hair again!............well, if only I could learn to braid my own hair!

I tried yt videos. Can you say disaster. It wasn't pretty.
