I use to spend hours upon hours styling my hair. I use to set aside Friday or Saturday evenings and spend 4-5 hours doing intricate twist and braid styles in my hair. I found that plating my hair was therapeutic.

Well... I no longer have time for such therapy:lachen:. I need to get my hair done so I can move on with my day. My schedule has become really tight.

What hair styles can you complete in 30 mins or less? You can count the 30 mins from when you step out the shower with wet hair (if its a wet style) or 30 mins from when you're done air/towel/blow drying.

No wash and goes, just because that's obvious.

I'll start. This is a picture from last year.

It's just 4 big cornrows going straight back.

Then folded under and secured with a clip

It took me more than 30 mins, but with my new detangler on my side and can definitely do it in 30 mins!

I'm usually in twists or braids which get airdried usually in the style I'll be wearing that day. No detangling or combing involved so it doesn't take me more than 5 minutes to get ready.

Pull damp/wet twists back and cornrow the ends in a circle to keep in place. Add phony pony:

Twist around and use bobby pins in various spots to hold:

Twist braid and pin to place or use a claw clip to hold in place:

Cornrow on either side and join cornrows in the back and tuck end under:

I have very little patience so I cheat by keeping my hair in twists and braids so that dealing with my hair is less of a chore. For therapy, when I have enough time or a good movie to watch, I touch up the braids/twists that are not looking neat, doing one at a time for as long as time allows.

I don't do anything to my hair for the most part so everything that I do (except for a full set of twists or braids) is less than 10 minutes.

What do you mean you dont do anything? Are you a 'wash n go' lady?

* Puff
* Semi-shrunken fro (I leave fat twists in my damp hair for about 20 mins, unravel and fluff out, so the hair is stretched out)
* a blow-out (un-styled)

For the most part if my hair is loose I must do something like twists, banding or braids (which I take down, so that my hair is stretched out) before I sleep or at least an hour before I leave home. When my hair is loose it's in a puff or fro 80% of the time though.

a puff (the end)

there is no other hair style that i can do in 30 minutes on freshly washed loose hair and still be willing to walk out the house.

but i look forward to learning from this thread:popcorn:

Braid outs and twistouts. Just do them at night and grab big hunks of hair.
You can do a regular fly afro. Just throw some accessories in their to change it up.
A wash and go
Medium sized flat twists only take about 30 minutes if you don't do the whole head. You do them only in the front or on the side in neat designs.
Afro puff

Bantu knots can be really quick especially if you do simple parts or dont part at all. I can't wait till my hair gets longer so my knots are thick and juice like Moara Marinho. It's also good for those who wash in twists because you dont have to we twist your hair, you can just make the knots while your hair is still wet/damp

or this: (only with wet hair)

I airdry in 5-6 fat braids, the first three done on dry hair, the last one on wet hair, and I don't do wash&go's.

:( all i can do in 30 minutes is a puff or a wash and go

Me too. :ohwell: I can barely even puff anymore since my hair is shrinking even more as it grows. I could do styles on 3-4 inches of hair that I can't do now because the shrinkage is so bad and uneven. I can't even fro anymore. :nono:

Try banding your hair. I used to do it when I wanted to stretch my hair out without the braidout/twistout texture and it was quicker to do also.

Is this 2 cornrows? I love to do this. Its actually my favorite style. Sometimes I start off center and do a curved part. It makes 2 asymmetrical braids. I really have to start taking pics of my hair again.

How did you do these 2 styles?

I do not have pictures but it takes less then ten minutes to do my hair everyday. you can twist your hair at night in large twist with your favorite moisturizer or conditioner and use raw shea butter on the ends take it out in the morning and brush up the sides and back and put your band around and have a chunky fro. When I get out the shower I section my hair and add leave in conditioner and leave the front out and pull the sides and back up in to a ponytails or I twist in a french roll and put bobbie pins to hold or a clip. Several different types of clips to hold it and the front I add moistureizer and a little oil or shea butter and wait until its almost dry and twist it up in twist add a roller let it dry as I head to work get to work go in the ladies room and take it out I have really nice curls in the front for side bangs. The rest is up in a twist or bun or clip. I would love to do some of Justkiya's styles but I can't braid my hair I have tried and tried but I cannot braid my hair like that for the world and none of my girls can either. They try but I look a mess. so thats out for me but it I could I would be rocking it everyday. most really nice styles have to be started at night. you can purchase some moisturizer and mix with gel to get a certain curly affect. Like laid down twist on all sides and untwist in the morning can give you a wonderful curly fro thats shaped and not all over your head. We all have different textures and what works for some might not work so well for others. I would like to have a twist curl that I have only been able to see on certain types of heads but mines won't do it. My hair is to straight for it. But I am working it out some way or another.

Actually, it's a flat twist. It takes me way too long to do cornrows, and I'm not really good at them - so I just do a twist, like a cornrow - using two strands instead of three.

The second style, I parted my hair, rolled the side up/under, and joined them at the back of my head. Then, the hair that was still out in the back, I pulled up to the 'join' of the hair from the front, and stuck a comb in to hold it.

The third style is the same 'flat twist' as the first, but just one down the middle of my head instead on one on either side of my head.

I have pics in my fotki of curlformers i do in the evening. It doesnt take me long at all to do them and in the morning i just take them out and style them. This morning i just pinned it up.
