What products do you use. Does it help with hold and definition for twist outs?

I just started making flat twist in my hair when I go to bed at night. I just use my avocado butter and a little bit of water. Then I put my perm rods on the ends. The definition you get depends on how many twists you make- fewer twists, less definition; more twists, more definition. You don't need any special products either, at least I don't.

I am relaxed. I use Elasta QP Mango Butter and coconut oil. HTH.

ETA: ORS Twist and Lock gel is fine too.

I use shea butter. The hold is great and the frizz is greatly reduced vs. any other product I've tried.

I don't need anything to do two strand twist. But, I use somethign for a number of reasons. If I am just doing my random messy usual two strand twist I use my moisturizer because I want to moisturize my hair and make it soft for handling.

If I am doing twist because I want to rock a twist out I use a leave in and ORS Lock and Twist Gel for a defined twist out. Fantasia IC Gel left flakes...yucky.

I wore twists for a few months the beginning of the year and I'd use FOTE aloe vera gel.

I don't use anything to do my twists. I'm natural 4B and the hold is fine...even after many washes. I think the size of the twists makes a difference. I do them small and so the ends intertwine following the shape of the hair's natural coil and hold. Below I've undone the ends so you can see what I mean.

After I do my twists, I get them wet so that the ends can shrink and take on the natural coily look and then I press them together so they form one unit and the shrinkage makes it stay without unraveling.

Unrefined shea butter or Asha's Mane Attraction. Both give good hold and good definition for my twist outs, for me. If I am starting with dry hair, I use a spray bottle and mist lightly with water before applying product.

When I was relaxed my stylist used setting lotion on wet hair. Now that I'm natural I usually use some type of leave in and then put a gel (Fantasia or ORS Twist and Loc gel) on top.

When I was going to a stylist in Atlanta, she used a setting lotion called Silky Milk. It seemed to work pretty good. I have never tried it myself, because with her I sat under the dryer. At home I just airdry overnight.

right now I'm using a mix of AO HSR, Castor oil, aloe, and shea butter.

I havent found the perfect solution yet but I'd love to hear more suggestions.

I use products with a thick consistency in the winter, so right now I'm alternating between hair butters & Curls Whipped cream. During the warmer months I use natural oils.

My hairtype is a 4b. When I twist wet, ORS Lock and Twist Gel is the bessssttt!! Without it, my hair would hold fine by itself, but the gel gives it a great shine and makes the twists smoother. It also smells great and there's something about the texture that I just love. When I twist on blow dried hair, I ususally don't use any product other than whatever I'm moisturizing with. Sometimes a little Fantasia IC, also for shine.

Leave in conditioner either Knot Today or Jessicurl Weekly deep treatment and and an oil either Jamaican black castor oil or oyins burnt sugar i keep things very simple.

I do twists very rarely (they take me too long), but I find that using IC Fantasia gel w/ Sparkelites (I use the one for color treated hair since it's more moisturizing) helps. I mostly use it at my roots to keep my hair from being puffy or unraveling at the roots. I have a picture of twists in my profile pic and in my fotki.

Like Glamazon, I put the gel on over my leave-in conditioner.
