Hey Yall!

I'm new-ish here, but I've been stalking the boards for just over a year. My questions are as follows:

What do you tie your hair with at night? What do you do to it at night? I can't seem to keep ANYTHING on my head overnight and I'm noticing that it has devastating effects.

Also,

What do you use as a mositurizer? I have plenty of protein stuff but what's good for just moisture? Preferably something cheapo, my hair is so dry I'll probably go thru it like water.

Thanks ladies! Happy growing!

I put it in a loose bun using a Good Days hair pin and tie a satin scarf over it
or I cross wrap it and tie a satin scarf over it. Sometimes I braid it and put it in a bun or braid it and put solar rollers on the ends. It really just depends on the style I'm trying to achieve. If you're having trouble keeping your scarf on, try a satin pillowcase. That way, your hair is still protected if your scarf comes off. I always do both, just in case.

I make my own moisture mix. It contains water, conditioner, oil and a teeny bit of serum. I usually put this in a spray bottle, but I've also made a creamy version that was wonderful. I like shea butter too followed with coconut oil. This combo makes my hair soft and shiny but can be a little heavy sometimes.

Have you tried NTM Leave-In? I've used is as a moisturizer and sealed it with oil in the past, and it worked well. I've heard ladies rave about the ORS Olive Oil moisturizer as well.

If you do a search, you should come up with threads on moisturizers.

If you can't keep anything on your head get a satin pillow case or make a silk pillow case.

I sleep with a satin bonnet or scarf on my head.

I've had the same issues w/ keeping my hair tied at night. I have to use satin pillowcases (got em at Bed Bath and Beyond.) This way my hair is protected even if my head wrap comes off.

Satin bonnets and plastic caps stay on the head well because of the elastic. I usually use a plastic cap and then tie a scarf over it. Most often the scarf stays on but even if it comes off, the plastic cap remains.

Hi, Kamilah :)

I don't keep anything on my head at night, never have. I usually just leave it in my regular bun or I might make two braids and sleep like that. I use satin pillowcases and I haven't experienced any breakage doing this.

I use Nexxus Humectress as a leave in after I wash my hair, but for moisture on days that I don't wash I just use plain water in a mister bottle and then I "seal" it in with a little oil. Unrefined hemp seed oil is my favorite.

Hi Kamilah!

I tie my hair down with a satin scarf, I put a bonnet over the scarf and I use satin pillow cases:)

For my moisturizer, I use ORS olive oil and seal with my hair some type of oil and then everyday I normally mist my hair with Dove Replenishing Moisture Mist.

I don't tie my hair with anything at night. I moisturize, seal with oil, and put it up in a bun and then sleep on a satin pillowcase. When I used to wear satin sleep caps they'd fall off or after awhile the elastic would stretch and they'd be too big for my head.

Now I use Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal Leave-In Comb-In Treatment as a moisturizer and I love it. I have also used Nexxus Phyto Organics Humectin, Garnier Length & Strength Fortifying Cream Conditioner, and Garnier Length & Strength Anti-Split Ends Treatment as moisturizers in the past and they worked great, too. I seal with Dabur Amla Lite oil or Dabur Vatika oil.

This is exactly what I do, then I moisturize with NTM leave-in and seal with Amla Lite.

Satin bonnets almost never stay on my head.

First I put in my moisturizers: Surge on the roots, Cantu shea butter leave-in on the length and ends, WGO to seal -- I'm 8wks post and my hair needs extra lovin' :p .

I've mainly been bunning, so to keep everything smooth for the next day's bun, I detangle and gather my hair up with a loose satin scrunchie. Then I tie on my extra large satin scarf and that's it! HTH

I wear a satin bonnet at night. It doesn't always stay on all night long, but I figure half the night is better than none. For a moisturizer, right now I am using a little shea butter. In the past I've used Mizane H20 overnight treatment.
