10 months later...and no progress (actually I'm even worse)

Hi guys, in my avi you can see where I was in July 2009. Blunt ends, BSL, with layered highlights. I was very happy with the shape, just wanted to reach MBL.

In the first picture you can see where I was in early March -- MBL. After that, a SHS changed my blunt to a U (I already talked about this in another thread). I am so mad at myself for going to her instead of my regular Aveda stylists. :nono: So this weekend I went to my regular stylist who, like I feared, had to correct the whacked up "trim" the SHS did, so even more length had to go. At least now I have a proper cut.

It's disheartening though because only a small strip in the back is BSL. The rest is in this awful U shape, some parts of which are as short as shoulder length. :wallbash::wallbash: I'll wear it down a few more days and then I'm going to do buns and rollersets so I don't have to look at it any more. I'm praying that I can make MBL again by the time I graduate in December of this year. :pray:

Now that lady is wrong for that S***.... At any rate it looks darn healthy though-so you'll be back at MBL in no time...
 
Your hair has made tremendous progress, no matter how you look at it, Butterfly.:yep: The nice thing about it is that it is healthy with great length. Grow on girl, and don't consider the necessary trims a setback. The trims actually put you on the road to thicker, more abundant hair.
 
Butterfly, I missed your previous thread so I had NO IDEA you hair had grown this long. Or maybe I just forgot but I honestly didn't feel the sadness I thought I'd feel when I saw the subject-line. I'm just smitten with how much hair you have. And it's so pretty!!!! Sorry I'm totally off the point you are making but I LOVE it. It's so thick, and there are no skinny ends. :love: It's obvious your stylist is really good (not the one you didn't like) but your regular, coz your hair is out-of-this-world beautiful. :drool:
 
I understand your frustration but, keep in mind that you are on the right track to getting to MBL. Your hair is gorgous simply because you have taken the right steps to get there. Your mishap will never happen again and pretty soon you will be MBL and heading to that next goal.
 
Your hair is beautiful and appears to be healthy so I'm sure you will achieve your MBL goal this year God willing and barring any further setbacks.

I really love my old stylist, but she moved 3 hours away. I only get my hair touched up 3 - 5x a year so sometimes I take a road trip to see her, it's near the beach and is a very pretty, relaxing drive. :yep: Plus there's an outlet nearby. :giggle: After this experience, I plan to go see her again in August. :yep:
 
It still looks great, I'm sure you'll make it to MBL this year, you're not too far from MBL. Don't worry too much ;)

Thank you! I am praying that will be the case, it would be an AWESOME graduation present! :grin: I should have less damage because I haven't had a color touch up in 5 months, and my stylist wants me to wait another 3 months. So this should give my hair a break. I'm going to DC once a week with heat as well and focus on keeping my ends healthy. :yep:
 
I know it is hard to lose your length, but your hair is so pretty still and I really love the color.
 
I know exactly how you feel. A SHS is the reason I went from WL back to BSL recently.

But I'm sure your hair will be back in no time. :yep: And it looks so pretty at every length, esp. the color.

Personally, I'm telling myself not to miss the length by reminding myself that my ends are fresher now, and I can baby them to ensure they stay as healthy as possible.
 
I love your hair. I always have. The length, the color, the thickness. Ooooo to have my hair with that thickness. You will be updating us with MBL photos before you know it. :yep:
 
Girl I thought I was going to see a very short haircut. Your hair is really thick and beautiful, you'll be MBL in no time!! See you there :D
 
Try to stop thinking about it so much, and just go on. I had to cut 3-4 inches off from a heating appliance damage in November. I felt bad for a while, but it's growing all the time, and it'll be fine.....and yours will too.

You can't stay on this forever because the stress over this can tear your hair up even worse than that stylist.

WHAT?! :eek: No, I didn't know that. WOW. :nono: What happened? OMG I can't even imagine. :catfight: Did you have a thread about it?

Yeah, my hair is healthy now (and certainly the ends). The colored part is not strong enough for color but it's not badly broken either. So it's an (unexpected) fresh start and I'll just build from here.

Wow, I know that hurt, but it was a learning experience I'm sure. Yes I'm trying not to focus on it by keeping my hair up. I have a lot of other stress in my life so I did what I had to do - filed the BBB complaint, and I'm trusting God to handle the rest (I'm more upset about the way the stylist reacted to my complaint than the hair lost - she was a total jerk). :nono:

It happened b/c I hadn't had a trim in awhile and was too chicken to do it myself (won't be making that mistake in the future). So I went to a Great Clips b/c they take walk-ins. Since I do my hair myself I don't have a regular stylist to call.

I needed to lose about 2 inches, and I think initially she may have stuck to that. But then she asked if I wanted layers and I said yes. :wallbash: She must have re-cut the longest layer at that point.

Looking back I maybe should have been suspicious that things would go poorly. She was white, but asked me questions about how long I'd been growing my hair and mentioned that she hadn't been able to grow hers (it was shoulder length). I know. Looking back that seems like a big RED flag. :ohwell:

I wanted to cry when I got home and realized how much length was gone. But instead I came on here and made a thread about it. I did so b/c I needed the support of my LHCF sisters. People in real life weren't really feeling the shock I was having b/c they still considered my hair to be long. But she cut about 6 inches, so that was still a pretty big deal to me.

To save you a bit of clicking, here are the pics from the original post in my thread (sorry they're a bit bit). I used the distance my hair hung from my robe belt as my unofficial gauge of how much hair I lost.

Note: the before pic was taken 3-4 months before the cut happened so my hair was really even longer than that.

But the good news is that the shock of the haircut spurred me to start taking vitamins. I've been taking Nioxin Recharging Complex for about 6 weeks now, and I feel that it's working really well.

I won't know how much for sure until I finish the 90 ct supply and take new progress photos.

SEMO, wow. :nono: The difference is extremely noticeable. However, (here comes the cliche :grin:) your hair STILL ROCKS!!!! It is beautiful. But that must've been a bitter pill to swallow.
 
Very pretty hair Butterfly and I agree with everyone else - your hair will be back to MBL in no time. Keep your chin up honey. By the way, I had no idea your hair was almost waist length. Very nice!

Thank you for the kind words and compliment. Your hair completely rocks also. :yep:

And I was sad for a bit, but actually got over it very quickly. I give the support from here a lot of credit for that. I also credit my friend who flat ironed my hair for me in that second pic. It helped me see that my hair still looked nice. Even if it was much shorter.

And I'm confident that I will be back at WL soon (hopefully much quicker than it took me to get there from BSL last time). ;)
