I love all of my LHCF sisters. Relaxed, Natural, and Undecided(lol).,I was recently looking into joining a BGLO (black greek letter org.) and thought "I already belong to one". I am so excited that we can all come together on here and help, encourage, motivate, inspire, and edify each other..shoot we even lend helping hands to the ladies that want help but aren't apart of the forum. Isnt that what a sorority is about?
Sorry to get all mushy but I think we should deff. pursue this.
I looked into the archives and saw something similar but it looks like it was just left alone.
Hopefully I'll get some support on this!!

Never thought of it this way but this is sooooooooooo true:yep: we really are like a sorority...including the hazing:look:  okay but forreal though this site is such a source of inspiration, I've seen sista's entire perspective on their hair evolve and mature before my eyes from the way we support eachother and celebrate black beauty and its so touching.

I feel that LHCF is this swesome counterbalance to the media because here we celebrate our hair for what it is and exalt it as beautiful.....I've come t learn here that many ladies dont live in areas where they get that irl but they get it here.

I'm so proud to see sista's with deep gorgeous mahagany skin tones with type 4 hair who were always taught to believe they couldn't achieve long length become walking talkin hair swanging examples that stand in exception to that...it inspires me.

I love LHCF we can get rowdy but at the end of the day were here to support eachother......I hope this spirit of sisterhood and overall comraderie can culminate in the greater black community in the same way.

Wow....looks like you're not the only mushy one xcuzememiss:love2:

You know, when you put it in such beautiful terms I have to agree. I usually don't like sororities and what they represent because of all the hazing and backstabbing that you hear about. But this is forum is definitiely the way all sororities ShOULD be.

No hazing, NO judging, and NO hating on those who have healthier hair....

As far as I am concerned, this the only true SORORITY that exists to man kind. LOL

I've often thought of this forum that way too op. You're surely not alone in your thinking. I absolutely love this place. It's one of a kind.

:yep: I agree, although sometimes it can get pretty hostile around here. This is the first forum that i've seen with so many encouraging and supporting people.

That's a stereotype, that unfortunately, some do make a reality. I am in a sorority, and I don't participate in that type of behavior. And I don't tolerate it from my sorors. But to say there's not hazing, hating or judging on here would be incorrect. I'm also a lawyer...Exhibit A, the AdoraAdora threads! And others. Not to say that Adora came on here completely correct as a newbie, but some people got downright nasty and obsessive with it. My comments may ruffle feathers, but it's all to say that while the vast majority of the time, 95%, it's very uplifting on here, it's just like anything else in life and people can get nasty. Overall, I love it! It's my favorite hair site, and I refer people here ALL THE TIME! It's my hair Bible. And I do feel the love and comraderie! :yep: But all sorority women aren't nasty. :nono:

I agree!

Thats a cute idea.

I didn't agree totally with the portrayal of the boards as totally angelic and sororities as not. Overall, I agree with OP about the environment on the board, but IDK about a sorority.

:)

When I was in college, I refused to join a sorority because I didn't want to be a "sheep" (please no offense intended, just my personal view at the time) - then I joined the military (Navy), the biggest fraternity on the planet and really learned the definition of "sheep". Now I understand all the good that sororities do and the sisterhood involved and I wish that I did pledge. So, as far as I'm concerned, this is a great idea and if it comes to be, I'll def join.

Luv my sistas!

It really is! :) I just didn't agree totally with the portrayal of the boards as totally angelic and sororities as not. But overall, I agree with OP about the environment on the board.

Thanks for this part. I love LHCF but I also love my sorority. I have some of my best and deepest friendships because of DST. Do we always get along? No. Do we always get along here on LHCF? No. Sororities and LHCF are like any family. Sometimes folks act up, but we always have their back. :yep:

Aww, so true. Even though we do have our moods, :giggle: I've encountered so many warm, wonderful people on here. :bighug:

The idea sounds nice. But its almost like getting married vs. living together. We already act like Sisters. Do we really need the piece of paper making it official?

*Quietly sneaks off to read the AdoraAdora threads* :giggle:

:)

I totally agree with DivaESQ.... I could not have said it better!

L-Phiiiiiiii!!!! lol

(lol)..With all of the things we go through on this board - hair and non-hair issues - a bond is definitely formed with my unknown hair Sorors (and a few hair Frats) and I would not have it any other way...

Brainstorming...I guess we need a theme song now (lol) like the Ques, Alphas, etc....(just joshin') :lachen:

I've enjoyed the forum so far. The pictures in your siggy are very cute. Do you straighten your hair before you do the spiral set? I would like to try that style sometime.

So glad to see others excited . I haven't the first clue on how to form a sorority. Maybe some of the sorority sisters could give some insight!

As a member of a BGLO Sorority, I don't know how I feel about LHCF being a sorority.

However, since people seem to start threads about it every few months, I think you all should DO IT. I'm interested to see the direction it would take--I have reservations right now, but I will have an open mind to any concrete plans presented.

Is there a reason you can't do both? :look:

Many of the members on here, myself included, are also members of BGLOs. I can't speak for them but my commitment to my Sorority is about a little bit more than what I get from this forum. Not that I don't love LHCF. The woman of my Sorority are the type of women who help a collegiate chapter member get registered for school so that she can graduate on time, or let Katrina flood victims stay in their apartments for months on end until was safe to go home or who show up to programs in 14 degree weather to hand out food and assist in shoveling snow from the drive ways of the elderly. Again, I love LHCF (and have been a member here longer than I have been a member of my Sorority), but there is something about being a part of a chapter that I just can't get from my membership on this forum.

If becoming apart of a BGLO is something that is important to you than I suggest that you continue to pursue it. If not, that's cool too. But I don't think that the experiences are the same.

OT: A belated 97th Founders Day to all of my beautiful sorors.

:nono: I would not support this either.

If you all want to start a sorority of LHCF members that seems fine. But I don't think that the actual forum should become a sorority and I don't think you should have to be a member of the sorority to be a member of the forum.

I don't see why this shouldn't be a sorority. We are sisters all over the world. We help each other in all kinds of ways. There's get togethers and all!!

What else is there for us to do to qualify?

Beats me. LOL

On the other hand,

With all of the arguements, I'm curious to find out if it would really work.

Happy Belated Founders Day, Soror! :)

I don't think it should be a requirement to be apart of the forum at all. If people wanted to do it, do it. If they didn't, don't, I'd hope.

Ummmmmm I cant get with it.....sorry :(

I am a member of a BGLO annnnnndddddd I would be low key offended if LHFC tried to mimick a sorority. Mainly because whenever this topic is mentioned it is followed by mention of calls, songs and other "stereotypical" elements of greek life, not what being in a sorority is trully about. While these elements are a part of each organization they do not encompass the greater mission that men and women of BGLOs ultimately strive towards.

We [lhcf] are women with common intrests and goals but we are NOT a sorority. Not only are sororities about sisterhood but they are also about SERVICE! We here at LHCF are not doing "much" to service our community so I would say this idea kinda bothers me.

With that said I am going to end it here at the risk of getting "preachy" but I think it is NOT a good idea. I do love how we bond here and I love how we are "sisterly" but I dont think we should get too carried away.
