I was in the grocery store today (yes, I crossed the picket lines for my free turkey) and in the hair products section they were selling satin covered foam rollers. They were in their own little satin bag. They were selling them at 20 for $5.99. I was tempted to get some, but wanted to know if anyone has tried them. Anyone?

No Stylepink, but they definitely sound like something I would be interested in. I could use them for the ends of my hair when doing braidouts. I image they're pretty comfortable to sleep in and protect the ends very nicely. Girl go back and get those rollers

I think I will! Then I can get the name brand and post it here for everyone. I can't stop thinking of those things! I was on my lunch break, but I'm gonna have to cross that picket line again to get those! People better back up, product junkie coming thru!!!!

I've used them. They made my hair too curly. I'd try them again if they came in a larger size so that I could just get like a nice smooth bump not worlds of curls.

Pretty and Chaya:

Do you think the hair would still come out too curly if bigger sections of hair were used, or would that work?

I tried that too Stylepink. I really think it's the diameter of the roller because I get the same results with any material of roller if it's too small.

I have the black satin Hype Hair sponge rollers from Walgreen's too. The only problem is that they come in a packet with various sized rollers, from really small to the regular sized sponge rollers. I only use the largest ones, but there are only like 8 big ones in the pack, and I refuse to buy a couple more packs b/c they cost like $11.99!!! Anyways, they work pretty well, but as with all sponge rollers, you do get a lot of curl, so I usually wrap in the morning before I hop in the shower to loosen the curl a little. But the satin does protect your hair from the usual dryness associated w/ sponge rollers.

Oh, and I also take out the plastic piece and secure them down with a large bobbi pin so I don't get those ugly roller marks in my hair!

I just got them yesterday at Kmart. So far so good. They are easier to sleep in. I forgot how much I loved sponge rollers.

You can buy the large ones and small ones seperate at Walmart. I don't remember how many come in a pack but my sister has the pack with all the large ones in it.

I love the Hype Hair ones. I use the biggest ones and I don't sleep in them because the curls come out too tight. I put them in in the morning before getting into the shower and when it's time for me to leave my hair has just the right amount of curl. They're the perfect alternative to the flat iron for me. Because of these, I've been heat free for several months now. They're my best friend.

These sound pretty cool. I think I'll get some too! I think I'll do a twist out or braid out and wrap it around the roller and sleep in it, then wake up and let the shower steam loosen it a little and Voila! I would have slept comfortably in them AND have a kicken hair-do when I'm not doing a bun, but one that still uses NO HEAT!!! Direct HEAT is EVIL!!!! :-) Bad Heat!!!

You are right JEN JEN
The first time I bought them I slept with them in overnight
and the curls too tight and no I no longer sleep with the
rollers.

karezone and others, are the ones you purchased at walmart by haype hair? i'm going there this week. i'm tired of using the papers for sponge rollers and worrying about the paper coming off i'm also tired of using the foam rollers that you can bend in any direction, but i hate sleeping in them-not soft enough. thanks for the info ladies! satin sponge rollers, how convenient!

Yeah at Walmart. The tight curls are okay for six year olds. By the time they finish running around and it is time to take a picture, they are perfect.

SO I bought these thinking that would work well for the ends of my twists but SURPRISE my hair is not long enough yet.....so I put them away in hopes of using them in the near future.

But I think I just figured a cool thing to do. I am gonna do my regular wash regi and then semi dry on low with a blow dryer and simply roll my hair to try and to acheive some type of curly style. Should work cause everyone talks about how well they curl. Maybe jump in the shower to loosen the crul a bit.

So now i am ready to get off work so I can roll my hair. ...so excited!

Yes i have tried them and love them. I too have the Hype hair brand (walmart) & like everyone else experienced too tight of a curl pattern so I went to Sally's and bought some larger ones to mix in & they give a nice curl mine sorta looks like its been rodded, nice spirals just finger fluff them out & the larger ones that I got from Walmart gave me a nice body wave HTH

I like the satin covered pillow rollers the best. I struggle with the ones with the plastic bars. The plastic part slips off.

The lady at the BSS convinced me to buy them--I thought, hmmm satin rollers, how genius. I used them for the ends of my twists and they just kept slipping out overnight--almost like they were too slick and satin-y. I should prob give them another chance:ohwell:

I use them. I like them when I'm trying to keep a tight curl which is hard the longer my hair gets so these work well for me. But if you're looking for a bump or loose curls then don't buy them. Otherwise they are good. HTH!

I have the Hype Hair brand. Much better quality in comparison to the Annie brand, IMO. The Annie brand is not as silky to the touch and the material frays quickly. :ohwell:

I just wish Hype Hair had a jumbo jumbo size. I should write a letter to the company. :scratchch

nostalgia break: I remember a member named Sweetcocoa (sp) posting in 2002 about sewing satin onto her foam rollers. She was so excited about her little invention. I've wondered for many, many years if she sold her idea and is under some kinda non-disclosure ageement. I haven't seen her post in yeaaarrrss...as Sweetcocoa. :scratchch

Yes I love them came in a pack from wallyz and graduated sizes. Great product. coulda did it myself if i had a sewing machine and some fabrick.

I love them! I used the jumbo ones. They are great for quick curls. I put them in before my shower and by the time I'm dressed I take them out and I've got curls.
