I don't know if any of you remember this, but I had one years ago. It's a little purple handheld device that can twist your hair for you (twist one has two prongs, the braid one has three).

And here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYdU4LundjM

There are two little hooks you press up and you slip the ends of your hair underneath. You push the button up, and the prongs twist the strands individually. Then, you push the button down, and the two prongs rotate around each other to form the twist on your hair. I know the prongs sound dangerous, but from what I remember, when I had it, it was actually pretty hair friendly. I think it'd be LHCF-approved. :yep:

I was wondering about this after watching a video on youtube of a woman two-strand twisting her long, natural hair and she said, "this is gonna take forever." It made me remember the device.

It's been maybe ten years, so you can get one for about 15-20$ now. I'd be willing to be the guinea pig, if I actually had some hair. But I'm thinking of buying anyway, just to have because I think they've stopped making it and I do want to try it. :yep:

Any thoughts?

Seems interesting. My difficulty has always been starting the braids.

OT: Synthetic dreads/locs? Is this common? I must have really missed the boat.

Thanks for reminding me of this. I used to have one a long time ago. It worked pretty good, but since I was relaxed, my hair never stayed twisted. Now that I'm natural...:scratchch

It's a whole subculture thing - the falls (fake dreads).

Only video I could find on it.

Same here! I was like, "This stupid thing doesn't work. I can't believe I begged for this."

But now with natural, self-securing ends...

Do you have to order one or are they in stores now? Where can I find one? I need help making my twists tighter :yep:

Like I said, it's been YEARS. If you can even find one in a store, pick me one up, too.

But they have a few on eBay.

But here's the cheapest I've found:
link!

But I don't want that ugly pink and green atrocity. I want the nice, sleek, purple one.

I also found it on a site called styleswap when I googled it and there was a woman on there looking to sell/swap hers, so I just sent her a message (so please don't go and out-swap me). I hope she replies soon.

No problem!

I wonder if this will catch on. If so, I have to get one NOW because you know how we can clean out an inventory and there are barely any of these things left. :nono:

Nobody buy until I do!

:lachen: :lachen: :lachen: It shole is uuuuglyyyyy! :lachen: I'd buy it if it works the same. But it would never see the light past my bathroom. I saw one on ebay for $150. It said you could microbraid your hair in under two and a half hours. Ummmm, I'm not paying anything over $20 for one, but I like how the prongs are bunched close together. With the Conair, you could only braid so far down before you have to stop and finish it yourself.

Oh, heck naww. That thing is way too complicated already, just looking at the pictures! I wonder if there's a video on it. I want to see it work.

And if you can get the conair down to maybe the last inch of your hair, it should curl around itself, you know? I think it'd be easy to get fairly close to the bottom. You make it work.

I thought about getting one of those, but it seems like it would tangle my hair instead of twisting it.
I think if you make clean enough parts and kept stray hairs out of the way, it'd be alright.

But yeah, it might tangle your hair, so... Don't buy one. :look:

I agree. If you make clean parts, with no flyaways, it shouldn't tangle. I'm going to try to find one in a store near me and buy it. ROBOT, what's your address in case my hair gets jacked up?:driver::bat:

When I was little, I had a Barbie that came with this pink twister thing. It worked perfectly for the Barbie, but not on my hair.

But maybe I'll try this Conair thing though.

Yeah, I just found the videos. It looks like something from Ghostbusters, but it is fast. I can see how some would find it useful.

And my address? Girl, you know this site comes with an automatic disclaimer!
"Everyone's hair is different..." :look: At least if you find it in a store, you can return it!

You know Barbie's hair was never quite like ours.

And I'd be scared of that device near my head. :perplexed

lol, seems like it could be worth a try though. If it doesn't work I can always give it to a little cousin. If I find it in a store first.

Hey guys I JUST saw this yesterday at Dollar General. I didn't look at the price, but it was right by the hair accessories. HTH...

Thanks! I'll have to check out my dollar store. I haven't seen a Dollar General in who knows how long. We have Dollar Trees.

If I can't find one near me, think you could ship one out? :yep:

Alright, now I'm not sure whether I want the two-pronged one or the three-pronged one. What if I want to wear braids one day? I can't do that with only two prongs! Hm...
