Clip On Extensions

I have dabbled, usually it's just a clip on bang. On a rare occasion I will clip two rows in the back for a half up half down hairdo.

Do you have any pics Vanessa? Can you please tell a little bit more about your regimen, do you use them daily etc? Did you make your own or purchase. Sorry for so many???

i use clip ins alot. but its been awhile now cause i lost all my wig clips and im to cheap to buy new ones.
but i recommend it. and i even used to use them when some of my hair braided underneath
i like these because its easy to take out (i never slept with mine) and it allowed my to have the look of a weave but still DC and all that good stuff once a week.

The idea sounds incredible to me. Can anyone share their experience on whether or not their hair growth was effective while wearing clip-on extensions? I heard that the tension causes breakage. I hope that's not true..

i did not have nay problems while wearing mine.
i just washed and straighten my hair as usual.
then i jus part my hair and clip them on.
i think the tension might be when people brush while wearing them
i brushed and styled them before i put them in (like striaghtened etc.)
i loved em, and my hair didnt show any damage or anything while i wore em.
and last summer i wore them almost everyday

That's good and encouraging. So would you also say that you received a good amount of hair growth while using them?

I think tension breakage could only occur of you are sloppy about how you use them. Don't clip a big ol' heavy track onto a thin swath of hair; don't be pulling on the hair and over manipulating it; take care of your own underneath; and don't sleep in them and you'll be fine.
I use mine for style purposes (add length and body), not to hide my real hair. I've never had any problems.

my hair grew as it always did, not any faster nor slower. jus regular hair growth.
and may i add i wasnt very good at taking care of my hair then either.
my recommendation is to take care and listen to you hair while using them. DC as usual and low mani will help keep ur hair in good shape while using clip ins.

:)

I made 4 rows and wore this style today.

Yup, have used them for quite a while - love em...matter of fact, the paint's peeling off some of mine, so I had to replace them. I just wash my hair as normal, braid it in two french braids and cover my whole head with rows of the clipped in weave.

No damage from that, even though I did not deep condition as I was previously doing cause life was just extremely busy.

Sometimes have had a little problem blending the top of my hair when most of it is braided up...have been playing around with how to do that better.

Love em!!!

This is probably great for a "Hide Your Hair" Challenge!

Thanks Americka!!!

That's pretty much what I did too, except I made one french braid down the middle. I had those bad boys in and less than 5 min.

I think as long as you style them before you clip them in this is a great protective style.

Thanks Americka!!!

Yup, that is a good video. One more thing...I make my own with various wefts of weave hair I buy from my favorite beauty supply store. Hold the wefts up to your head to measure (I just kinda graduate up the length of my hair) and measure. Once I cut the lengths, I sew the clips onto the hair with black thread (use two to three clips per row, depending on the length of the row). Once you buy the clips you can reuse them repeatedly, so the real expense is the hair. If you want to, you can glue (then sew) the clips to the hair, but I've discovered it's just as firm a hold if you only sew them and is a better use of time.
If you like, you can also take the hair out and wash/condish it, then clip it back in.
Happy New Hairdo!

I always sew two wefts of hair together before I attach the clips. I think next time I'm going to make it 3 just to get the maximum fullness.

I am so happy I started this thread. I've gotten a lot of usefull tips, and will continue to experiment with clip on extensions.

i have a normal reggie i just pop the in and out when i want to wear them. i used to buy zury silky yaky but the girl at the bss convinced me to upgrade to indiremi it was definitely worth the investment.

i don't use them daily anymore because my hair has grown a great deal. but i do use them when i go out. i style my hair normally (wash rollerset etc) then pop them in and curl the ends of the extensions it blends better that way and i'm good to go. but i don't put any product in them other than a bit of hair spray.

and i have pictures in my fotki

Yes I make them myself. I have a twa and sometimes I want length and volume. I am lazy so I use a hot glue gun to attach wig clips to weave track. Here are some of my results. Click for larger view

Here are a couple pictures on mine.

I like the straight look but it required me to use my flat iron more so the wash and go look was a winner for me. Oh and I threw in a couple with making a bun and ponytail.

Okay I have to read this thread from page one because I bought some extension clips from Sally's earlier in the year but haven't used them yet.

I like this idea a lot because I can't see myself teasing my hair for any reason. I hate the thought of raising my cuticles that way. I would definitely try installing them this way.
