Hey yall. Some of you know that I was back and forth with the decision to texlax. I went into a salon and asked about relaxer prices. The stylist convinced me not to relax and offered to straigthen my hair plus a free trim.

I said yes and told her I only trim once a year because beauticians hack off to much hair. She assured me that she only cut 1/2 inch at the most.

Long story short I went from

to

Apparently this is her idea of an inch:perplexed.

Anyway, being the nappy I am, I went back with a my work I.D. and showed the manager my "trim" and got my money back. The cut was horrible and choppy so I went to the clear folx and got my hair recut. Here's how my hair looks now. I didn't want short hair but it's pretty cute:yep:.

The back is a little rough but I'll be texlaxing and posting more pics soon.

I'm am so sorry that happened to you. My mouth dropped when I saw what she did to you. At least it looks much better now. :)

WOW, girl that is nowhere near an inch and she knew it ! I am so sorry that had to happen to you. At least the end result is bangin !

Your cut is nice I know your hair will grow healthier!
PS.... that why i'm so afraid of stylist!

I am in shock. How did you react when you saw how much the first stylist cut? Did you contront her? Did you cry? Yell? Paint me a picture girl...I have to know.

That happened to me once a few years ago.....and since then I don't allow any new stylist to put scissors near my head. I will walk around with raggedy ends until my long time stylist is in NYC (she moved).

I'm sorry this happend but the cut is really cute!

She was slick with it. Well of course I was turned away from the mirror:rolleyes:. She washed and then cut my hair while it was wet and curly. I noticed when she was about halfway done(it was loud in shop she was cutting slowly and I didn't heaar the scissors). I didn't trip because it wasn't much on the floor. She swept that up and said she was done trimming. She started straightening and I noticed I heard scissors again:sad:. Again I didn't see nothing on floor. She got to sides and I noticed my hair was lying on my shoulders. I asked how much she cut and she said Oh a half inch. I did this:perplexed. Then she said okay an inch. She went on about how damaged my hair was and how more needed to be taken off blah, blah, blah.

I decided to stay calm because I reasoned that I still had long hair and it was already gone so there was no need getting upset. I can deal with a trim/cut as long as the cut is on point. She kinda rushed me out, telling me that she will get in trouble if I am there past 9:15:ohwell:.I kind of glanced at the cut and left.

Went home, realized that cut was blended in some places, choppy in others and I just hated it. I comtemplated hiding my hair until it grew back but I cannot afford weaves for the next 8 months until my hair grew back. Besides, why should I pay for hair I hated(even though the "trim" was free):nono:

Today, I went back and told the manager what happened. She told me that I could not get a refund unless the stylist was there. I showed her my work ID and then showed her my hair. She:blush: and immediately gave me a refund.

I hate in between hair and figured that since it was gettng hot soon and my hair was gone anyway to get a cute little cut. :yep:

I decided not to put the place on blast because the manager was so nice about giving me a refund and my stylist is newly liscensed (and it may have been an honest mistake) but if you are in the ATL area I will PM you the name of the salon and stylist

That is unbelievable! What kind of a trim was that?! I would have been so mad if I were you, that sucks. :nono: At least your haircut is cute though! :lachen: @ "the clear folks"

Oh my!!! Sometimes I cannot believe what stylist do to people! I'm starting to think I will "just say no" to stylists now. I am sooooo sorry about that horrible first cut but I love the final result!!

Your final cut is very pretty! :yep:
I'm curious though...what did your stylist hair look like?
She had a cute pony weave. She had all her edges. She was really
pretty and well put together:yep:. She kept going on and on about how beautiful my hair was and how I shouldn't relax it. She even said something about wishing her hair was like mine.

A couple of my male friends warned me about getting my hair done in shops though. They both have dated stylists and said females will *** your hair up because they are jealous.

I refused to believe this at first but this has happened to me several times. And the bad thing about it, all the stylist who did this had nice hair and were giving me compliments the entire time!Sadly, I am starting to see thier point:nono:

wow, what nerve! its very frustrating when stylists dont communicate.

i had a similar thing happen to me when i went to a salon for a wash/set and the woman took it upon herself to cut 2 inches off, unevenly. :nono: i was so angry saying, "i just wanted a wash/set! i go somewhere else to get my trims." annnnd, i needed a touchup at the time!

when i finally went to get my touchup, my reg stylist saw me and said, "ay mami, why?!" LOL

your new cut is super cute, though :yep:

That's why I'm a d.i.y.

For the most part, I am too. I only go once a year if that (unless I am getting braids). This is why...

Nappy tip: Make sure the stylist has you facing the mirror!!!! Clear girl had me facing the mirror the entire time and told me exactly whay she was doing step by step

Wow. I think you handled that situation very well. Newly licensed or not, that hack job is totally unacceptable. And then she had the nerve to lie about how much she cut? On what planet is that an half inch? Ugh.

Your new cut is cute, though. :yep:

Unfortunately I totally agree with your male friend. What happened to you happened to me twice in the early 90s. And both times the stylist had pretty hair but short hair. And I'm convinced that most black, female stylist with short hair have some type of envy game going on.
I truly believe their plan is to keep all their clients with a short hair cut that requires a lot of maintenance. That way they keep their pockets lined with your money and they make sure that you are not walking around with hair longer than theirs!:nono:
When it comes to so-called female hair stylist, I'm a complete hair snob.
When I see a stylist with short hair or wearing any kind of fake hair; I refuse to even let them hand me a business card. I look at them sideways and keep walking.
Well, at least you have a pretty cut and you have a great positive attitude. Your hair will be back to BSL in no time.

Case in point - BSWS (badmind stylist with scissors).

I can't believe that sis, made my jaw drop. I thought you got a hair cut by choice, not someone you trusted with your tresses giving you a hack job. I'm sorry...
