My favorite is Organic Fiji. I got it from my local health food store for around $9 (it was mislabeled and should have been twice that).

They have a site too: http://www.organicfiji.com/
The one I have is listed under cooking oil.

However, since I'm trying to minimize the amount of money I spend on hair products, I use the Parachute brand because of the price.

Spectrum is the only brand I use, and I like it. I even got my SO using it now instead of that 'wave grease'.

I use the NOW brand coconut oil! It's the best.

I've used: Spectrum (unrefined) and Parachute, yet neither comes close to the quality of the NOW brand. The scent is stronger as well as the texture is more creamy.

I use the LAXMI brand from a local international supermarket it smells like......................
bacon grease!! I am looking for something to replace it that actually has a coconut scent or if that's not possible then I'll go for unscented. It was either $2.99 or $3.99. I want something that is inexpensive but still have a good quality that I can get locally and not have to travel 10 or more miles for. Any suggestions?! I think I just killed this thread.
:[ Sorry!

:drunk::drunk::lachen::lachen:!!! I know!!!!! It sure does. And it's expeller pressed extra virgin...it's the queen of all virgins! :lachen: But it stank! I bought Rexal/Puritan's extra virgin coconut oil from Walmart in the vitamin section and it's great!!!!! It even feels better in the hair. 16 oz is 9.99 but no nasty smell, just pleasantly a little creamy coconut. But that Laxmi...whew...for a Hindu product, it sho have some people wondering what they eating ahahahahaha! Bacon!

Really 16 oz for $9.99!!! Oh my!!! My Laxmi was one of the above prices mentioned!!! I emulsify shea butter and the coconut oil to kill that....that...eww smell. Is there anything that's like under $10 like my Laxmi? The Emerald Laboratories brand was $12.99 at my local GNC.

i voted nutiva because that's what i use... i take it internally and use on hair/skin as well

I use Living Foods Organic unrefined coconut oil but I don't know if it is the best....I do luv it though!

I like Vatika & Parachute but for different reasons - I like the smell and purity of Parachute and the color of my hair. But I like the softness of my hair after using Vatika

Nutiva ..............

I want to start using Nutiva on my skin as well, I am going to order the large size from Vitacost when I start running low again. I oiled my hair with Nutiva before my last henna and it made rinsing the henna out so easy!

Thanks for reminding me!!

I've only used Spectrum, because it's what I found when I first started using coconut oil. It's decent. The only thing, I don't like the "gritty" feel when emulsifying if it has gone through multiple liquid/solid phases given temperature changes.

I am 9 months post and I cut all the perm off in Feb 09. I did my first braid out yesterday and it's really cute but its looks dry but not dry to the touch. I really need some advice on what I should do before I braid it and after I take it down. Thanks Ladies

I am new at this and right now I'm doing braid outs no heat for 6 months what do you suggest i do before I braid it and after I take it down so that it want be dry.

For those who use Vatika coconut oil - which type? I just bought my first bottle and noticed it is ENRICHED. It is enriched with lemon juice, henna and coffee. I wanted the pure. Anybody have experience with the enriched?

How exactly do use coconut oil that comes in a jar? Do you scrap it into a smaller container you can heat up before using? Or spoon some each it time and rub in your hands before use to liquify?

I have only used Spectrum and I like it so far.

It's really moisturizing but it always makes me wonder if I'm walking around smelling like food!:lachen:
