Oh and henna will make your hair thicker and fuller. I can't wait to do my henna treatment next week.

Many people on this site believe castor oils works

I'm using Henna on a weekly basis, OCT/MT, and aphogee once a month. Currently sitting under a dryer with egg white on my hair. The Henna has made my thin, fine hair very strong. I had a real problem with the ends breaking off when using a flat iron or even combing. The Henna and all of the protein treatments have stopped the breakage. I used to be able to grab a fallen strand of hair and easily pull it into two pieces. My hair has gotten so strong and that I can't really snap it in two anymore. Yayyyyy!!! I use heavy conditioners, as I have read from the threads that overdoing protein is bad for the hair, but I haven't reached my protein limit. I'm also very low hair maintenance. I pull my SL hair back into a scrunchie made of hair till it looks like a bun. My hair is too thin to make a bun without some type of aid.

I've read a great deal about how protein must be broken down into amino acids to be absorbed by hair. Henna seems to coat the hair with protein, but I'm not sure about egg whites. I don't know if it can really penetrate the hair strand and make it stronger. It can't hurt, so I'm trying it. Can anyone share some thoughts on the use of egg whites to thicken hair?

Stretching my relaxers has made a huge difference in the thickness of my hair, It's like I grew an extra set of hair follicles, lol. Right now I'm 20 and a half weeks post. I know a lot of people don't like to stretch that long but it's made a significant difference for me.

I agree with henna, castor oil, and stretching.

Less combing (or low manipulation, in general) also helps.

Coconut oil also works for me. Studies show that it prevents protein loss (e.g., thinning) from the hair.

well I can say what makes your hair thinner, so just do the opposite:grin:

For me, having a stylist overlap the relaxer contributes to thin ends, you should always protect your ends with conditioner or oil while you're relaxing. and also not keeping enough moisture in my hair which causes the ends to thin.

good diet, finger combing low manipulation, and maybe scalp massages.

No Heat (or reducing heat)

Protective Styling/Low Manipulation

If you relax, Stretching or Texing should help.

I have naturally thick hair, but as a child, I always wanted thin hair. Good thing I know better now.

Some people take vitamin b5 (pantothenic acid) to help make their strands thicker.

I've found low manipulation and stretching has really thickened my hair. A good hair, skin and nails vitamin helps too.

My hair was practically see through from a really bad relaxer I got in 2006 and braids (kinky twist) thickened my hair right up.

Me too!

To answer the question, stretching, low heat and low manipulation. After my last touch up someone commented about how my hair looks even thicker. It's so much healthier since I started stretching a year ago, especially since I am double processed.

No heat No heat! I can't stress that enough. I don't stretch nor do I use growth aids and have a very simple regi and I color. Heat imo is the biggest problem.

What is Ayurvedic? :perplexed...

Also, where can I get Castor Oil, How are you guys using it... application through a bottle?

I still have fine hair but it has thickened up over the last year by incorporating more protein and henna treatments. Ayurveda and herbal oil infusions have made my hair grow very fast. I got 2.5" cut over the last three months, just to even things up, and it's already growing back, still at APL or a little below that. I need to stop cutting it and just let it grow...

Keep it coming ladies.
In general I think my hair has thickened up since I started my HHJ. I only use direct heat when I relax which is every 4 months now it was every 6 last year. I keep it braided under my LF and make sure to moisturize and oil.

:bump:

I am interested in thickening my hair. I think that my biggest problem is hair loss. My mother and grandmother experience this as well. My mother started in her late 20's/early 30's. I started in my early 20's:sad: The problem is that it is getting much worse! My ends are also very fragile.

Before I joined this forum, I was not very much into hair care. About a year ago, I had waist length hair. I am currently MBL due to a recent trim...less than an inch b/c my ends were horrid. Prior to this, I was trimmed about 6-8 months ago, and my hair was sooo much thicker on the ends. I have had relatively thin hair since high school, but over the years, it has become far more thin.

I know that heat plays a part, so I am trying to air dry my hair before flat ironing, and I don't use any heat when wearing my hair curly. I have 3 a/b hair. I never knew one could over-moisturize before this site, and I think this is what I may have been doing. I always thought my hair was dry when it was not shiny. I'm thinking protein?? I just don't know what to do (I've heard aphogee is good) or how often to use it. How do I know when I've got enough/too much protein?

TIA

I would suggest: Stretching your relaxer, Upping your Supplements & Water, Low Mani & low Heat And using a product like Mega-Tek. Also looking for products i.e. conditioners that promote Thicker Hair.

MT has really thickened up my hair even though I had thicker hair to begin with. Made it alot Thicker and alot Stronger.

Even though I use it un-mixed, (applying it to scalp only) you might want to consider mixing it with Castor Oil.:yep:
