That's true. I think I have one friend who relaxes. The rest are natural, but most of them wear a press, braids, or wigs. I'm natural, but whenever I wear my hair straight, people tend to think I'm relaxed.

In the Bronx, I don't see so many naturals. However, remember, the Bronx has hardly any non-Latino Blacks left. Almost everyone is PRican up there...:lachen:

For a second I wondered what you were talking about cuz I hardly saw any there and hardly see any when I go back. I'm from LA area and went natural there in the 90s and I was alooooone. :lachen: But now since I see you're talking about press and curls, I can see what you mean. Before I went natural (meaning wore my natural hair textures) I was mostly press and curl and so is most of my family, either press and curl or in braids or weaves or something. So when I found the hair boards and heard of people's families always harrassing them to "perm that mess", I was curious. I mean, why do they have to go all the way to ther permanant relaxer. My family just harrassed me to "press that mess"!

In terms of people actually wearing out their natural hair texture, though, I see a lot more now that I'm in Chicago. In my neighborhood in particular there are tons.

Washington, DC. I was born and raised in DC and it was not unusual to go out and see many naturals. However moving to b-more. I don't see many.
 
i will say London
lately i have been seeing more and more naturals some people completely bald, BC'ed with lil relaxed ends, MBL locs,fro,puffs,curly dos

i have being seeing more and more naturals especially locs

most of the naturals are very young teens and the 20's most of the people with locs are mature late 20's 30's and more

i have also being seen teens with locs
 
Houston made the cut! I do see LOTS of naturals here. They're springing up everywhere. I'd say our of every 10 sista's I see, 6 of them are natural and 2 of them are transitioning. In ATL, it seems everyone is natural.

I lived in Cali for a second, and I could totally understand why people flatironed and pressed. In the South, a press will revert quickly for a lot of people due to humidity. That's why people say "perm/relax" rather than "press that mess."

Yeah, i only been to brooklyn a few times because i used to go get my weaves done over there. It was in a salon with different hairstylist and out of all of them only 2 had natural hair. It was a man and a female, they both had locks. The other ones were relaxed. In the bronx, i don't see a lot of black females reppin their natural hair. In my high school, i only remember seeing two black girls with natural hair, the rest had relaxed unhealthy hair. Very few had healthy relaxed hair and then the other ones had f.u.c.k.e.d. up weaves. In my HS school, we had like 4,000 students, the majority were girls.
 
I attend school in DC and now attending school in Atlanta


And I will say DC has more women rocking natural hair.. that I have seen
 
I saw a lot of naturals in NY and DC. We have a lot here in Baltimore too (I see more locs than anything) but not more than relaxed heads.

Girl, this is a recent phenomenon on the campus! When I was there in ninety-cough, cough, anyone with natural hair was an anomaly. I'm glad things are changing!
 
I live in the DMV area and there are naturals EVERYWHERE! Locs seem to be the style that I've seen the most.
