Have you (or, anyone else) every use a product (or products) on your hair that makes you just SHUDDER just thinking about it??? !!!!!!:hide::perplexed

My mum used to use Palmolive Soap and NO conditioner to wash my hair as a kid. No wonder my hair never grew past shoulder length.....

the grease my mum used to put on my scalp. and how roughly i used to brush my hair.

and this is totally OT, but i love your kitties! they are so cute.

Forgot to add:

Hair combing. When my hair was combed when young, combing started at the root and didn't stop until it reach the ends.

I educated everyone around me how to comb properly when I studied Hairdressing.

I remember it being advertised on TV (among UK version of Soul Train) in the 80s over here. I thought it would make my hair slick down and sway like the American girls I seen in magazines. WRONG!!!!!! :nono: Damn thing felt like straw!!!

When I was little, I over heard my sister and friend talking about how washing your hair with powdered laundry detergent makes it grow. They were just cutting up but......I tried it...................my hair was so squeaky clean....I had to condition it so many times to get it to feel normal. No one else knows about this. I was maybe 11 or something lol.

Loads of complaints about Luster Pink Lotion. :nono: I am surprised they never changed the formula over the years.:perplexed

OT: I noticed that Luster have bought out different versions of Pink Lotion. Anyone tried it and, how doest it feel?

I don't get it either - their sales must have dramatically dropped over the past decade and they must be aware of all the negative comments, yet they still advertise and have not taken it off the market. I've not tried it but i bet the new formula is much the same.

Pantene. I never tried the Relaxed and Natural line b/c of my previous experiences with Pantene, but just the fact it's made by Pantene makes me shudder. That Pantene shampoo used to tangle my hair so badly when I was child. I hated having my hair washed b/c of it.

Yes my mom used it too :nono:

And any sauve, white rain, v05...any of those $1 shampoos and conditoenrs seem to just tangle the mess out of my hair and make it so rough....I have to deepconditon over and over. :nono:

Pink oil
Blue Magic (hate that stuff)
Generally any product with mineral oil as the 2nd ingredient

years back when i was a gel addict.
my routine was
moisturise with pink oil
:barf:
then get my pink brown gel and mix it with grease :barf:to slick back my hair and i would use the hardest brush in the world and pull my hair back so tigth sometimes i would get headaches.:nono:

in 1 years and a half my hair went from healthy MBL ish hair to barely SL hair:barf::cry::nuts::down:

sometimes with all this in my dirty head i would unsuccessfully straighten the front of my hair

and wash evey 4 to 6 weeks:nono:

No products come to mind (except maybe some braid sprays!), but like someone mentioned it still makes me shudder when I think back how my mom us to comb my hair from root to end... without a break. So even if there was a knot, she was still going to reach the end w/one straight comb thru. wow, by the time we finished, my ears were red, my nose was red and I had many tears to dry.

pantene r&n products...i was so excited when they came out and i literally still have bottles from then cause i hate it so much.

i washed once a month maybe. ew. and i was too impatient for conditioners to stay in my hair longer than 3 mins.

the cheap 2-in-a-box relaxers burned the entire back of my mom's head.

we used to keep whatever grease and moisturizers were cheapest in stock. of course they all sucked.

small tooth combs

combing my own hair in general...i am just now getting over my impatience and my desire to start near the top. my mom has been saying for YEARS that you gotta start at the bottom and i never listened.

dish washing liquid liquid
fabric softener
clothes detergent

Those stuff went into my hair as a pre-teen.............(experimenting)

hammercy!

I hated the brown gel. I never used it on myself but saw others using it, and they would keep this nasty @$$ toothbrush that looked like it had been scrubbing a toilet bowl (complete with what goes in the bowl) and brush their edges with that. :barf: Someone did my hair once when i was a kid and tried to slick my edges down with that mess. As soon as I got home I washed it off my edges. Even as a kid I was like :barf:

Ha Ha...yes, Bantu, Frech Perm, and TCB Bone Strait were the roughest relaxers around. :lachen:

Add to the list Revlon and Ultrasheen . The cheapest relaxers around £1 per tub. And, to top it all off, I use to visit a Hairdresser years ago who used that on my head and, take my £40. All hair, apart from the middle of head, was brittle and broke off.
