Why is it so hard to get advice or suggestions?

There were so many questions in that thread I got dizzy and didn't know where to start :spinning: So try to keep your questions organized and about one topic.
Also try doing searches on your questions. As a newbie it's likely your question has been raised in the past and people that have been here for awhile don't feel like answering the same old question for the 18937897897th time.
HTH. Happy hair growing!!

Yeah. I would say more than half of the questions asked daily are ridiculously repetitive. So, do a search first. If you are unsuccessful, go to google, hit advanced search, type in your key words, and type in the LHCF web address where it asks for a link. That should help.

People complain about the search feature here, but if you work it a few times with different key words, you can get into some old and really informative threads that will answer your question and then some.

Just keep bumping. I don't go for older members only or hair pictures. I just didn't see your thread. Usually I click on "New Posts" to see who has posted what recently. So bump your thread up for us and I'm sure we'll do our best to answer questions.

Oh and sometimes if I don't use those products, I don't give an opinion, cause it's not coming from experience. Ya know? Hang in there! :yep:

I agree...bump your thread until you get the amount of responses you want. I search by new post as well so if it hasn't been bumped up...I haven't seen it.

Ooooh - that's harsh.

Anyway - welcome to the board. You'll get used to the politricks.

Sorry if ya'll that I was being harsh. She stated to get attention in her post and you do need attention grabbing titles to get these crazed heifalumps attention. So how am I being harsh she was spot on in her post?
I'm wondering what approach she is going to use and what she is seeking because we all have to ponder this sometimes when we start a thread here.

Heck sometimes there are time constraints when I start a question/advice seeking thread. Damn folks don't answer my questions in a timely manner either!:lachen:

i was only joking hun. xx

Hey, to the OP - i only got my first star rating on a thread last week.
.....And the only thread that i have gotten pages and pages of replies on was in Off Topic. It got x-rated, blew up and got locked. :ohwell:

What thread was that? :look:

You done good if it took this long for one of your threads to get rated. A person could start a thread saying " My son got all A's!" and it'll get hit with a 1 star! :lachen::lachen::lachen:

Sorry to go OT. Back to the regularly scheduled program.

:yep: :yep: :yep:

ITA, especially about the questions. There were soooo many, I was like ''WHOA! Lemme back away..... Slowly....'' :lachen: I had no clue what you were asking about, so I didn't know how to answer your questions

And I don't agree with some other posters who have said that if you're new, you won't get noticed. I had a lot of threads when I was a newbie and most of the time, I had a decent amount of responses. I tried to make my titles interesting, so people will be like ''Oooh, what's she talkin about?''

If no one answers, or you only have a few answers, don't take it personally. People probably either didn't know how to answer your question, they didn't see your thread, or they've seen your question 2 million times before and don't feel like answering it again.

You also didn't pick a good time to post. Threads get more answers late in the afternoon. Early morning, evening and late at night aren't the best times to start a thread.

HTH!

I don't think it has to do with "popularity" or "longevity" or "hair length" or avatars, or siggy pics; but more to do with whether or not the people viewing your thread has anything to add to the topic, know the answers to your questions, may not be familiar with the products, may not be interested or simply don't feel like answering - especially if this is the 988774332126787 time that the topic has been posted.

I am sorry that you feel like this. This board is full of knowledge and I can just about guarantee that if you keep bumping your thread, folx will answer in it. Somtimes it takes a little effort to get responses to threads.

I've had threads that I've started that have gotten pages of responses and there have been threads that I've started that have gotten 0 responses.

Just please don't take it personal, sweetie! Stay encouraged and focused on what made you join the board in the first place :yep: :hug2:

I just wish that the search engine worked properly- I know that would help.

Maybe if there was even a query that would bring up topics of similar interest before allowing you to post a new thread. Not that new threads on the same topic shouldn't be allowed but it would help with redundancy. :yep:

Also I wish all of these cheap heffas would pay their $6.50 and come out of hiding because we ALL know we have spent a lot more on a lot less in life and I have gotten so much information from this forum about hair and everything else under the sun that I would consider this possibly being the best $6.50 I ever spent.

I've never had an issue searching for a topic. Everytime I read that, I'm thinking, "hm. glad I don't have that problem..." :smirk:

Yeah, it usually works if I enter 1-2 uncommon words in the search. It's ok if I don't include words like hair, conditioner, rinse, etc.

---

Starting a thread in the wee hours of the morning in the hair care tips forum can get buried easily by 8/9 AM too. :yep:

I do agree with others that you should not take things personally.....

I mean - A great idea might have been to introduce your self and talk about a few of your needs and concerns. One picture that is clear might help too......It is not hard to get advice or suggestions if you research, and don't expect everyone else to do it for you.

I also think that it is important to have something to contribute too......even if it is an article..... Just my opinion.....( so please no one get upset...)

That is just me - I think people do get tired of answering questions that might be on page 2 of the board. It has been asked 20200 to the tenth power.

I usually ignore questions like.........

" What is your Regimen and how can I get hair as long as yours tomorrow??????" or "Where can I buy Aloe Vera"

Those questions take a LONG time to answer., or the answer is on the next page..... So don't expect much - especially if people who have been on the boards along time might have all that info in their fotki, or it may be somewhere else on the forum.......

I have not been here that long - but honestly you gotta give it time. I read posts now where people are saying "SJ helped me with this or that" or "sj's method" or"pinkskates' methods", etc.....

So - give it time - and don't demand answers:rolleyes:..... Just my opinion.....

Let me go back and find that thread so I can see what I missed :look:

Yep, dont worry about the responses. Just keep bumping it up, and if that doesnt work do another thread but change your wording, add some descriptive words and titles. Just like sending an email the title should be something that someone can kind of guess what the subject of the email (or thread in this case) will be.

Oh yea, dont worry about repeating stuff. It's enough of us here on this board that at sometime someone will repeat something that has been addressed. Someone may even be kind enough to bump a thread up for you or provide a link. :yep:

I've been on here for years and still hear crickets on some of my posts. Don't worry about it. It doesn't stop from from adding my 2 cents in interesting threads. And yeah, I look at avatars, pics and album links too.

i never had that issue when i was a noob so i dont really agree with the whole picture/popularity thing...this aint high school! i will repeat what others have said though, do only one or two questions at a time, and search search search for your answer.

and bumping works too. it could be the wrong time of day or something.

Not being abrasive here , but I have like 80+ views and no response on what I did for the first time, and that sucks. I thought this community was to help people, give a little suggestions & support...

What seems to be the problem people lol?

Im so excited I lost my aphogee/ giovanni virginity and no one has anything to say lol....:lachen:

Hope to hear something.

The name of the thread is , " so I tried this.." I think..

Its like on page 4.

If I don't have anything to add than I just view and keep it moving. Also, many newbies ask the same recycled questions versus doing a search. Most of your questions would answered by looking at past threads.

Maybe nobody has the answer to the question you've asked... or perhaps the people that are looking are planning on coming back to answer your thread.

Just be patient.

Aww, I understand how you feel. I posted a similar thread a few months ago...(it's gone now so I couldn't link it)...but I got a lot of support. I'm not gonna lie to you. There are many reasons that threads go unanswered...but IMO it's mainly because there is a lack of knowledge or input on a subject or the topic has been discussed ad nauseum.

Yes, the board can get a little cliquish...I just stay out of those discussions and threads...most times, if you aren't well known, unless your thread title is juicy or there are 100+ responses (warranting people coming in to see why so many have responded), the cliques won't bother anyway.

A lot of times, I'll see an unanswered thread and if there's anything I can add, I will. Like others have said, keep bumping, try to use search when you can and don't get discouraged.

HTH!

ETA: Sometimes its all about timimg. If you check a few hours later or the next day, you'll find that someone has responded.

I've been around LHCF for quite some time... sometimes people don't answer because they don't have the answer or are not interested in answering.

Sometimes it's because the answer maybe able to be found in a search. And sometimes it's because they come in the thread thinking it will be about one thing and ends up being about another. It's usually nothing personal though.

I agree with this too!

Yeah, newbies are well served with bumping older threads sometimes using the search feature.

I hope you get the answers you seek Cami :) BTW, I didn't see your original thread.
