Well I was in Wal Mart picking up a t-shirt and this black lady came over and asked me was I natural I said yes. She begain with she was tired of us young folks trying to be something we are not. I kinda stared and smiled. She went on with all yall nappy headed children walking around trying to go back to the sixties and the flower child movement. I said no mam I just decieded I wanted my natural hair and I did not want to perm anymore. So she was getting loud and I was trying to not make the it any worse than it was.

Well a white lady came and started touching my hair well by now I was like what the frekin frak is going own. I grabed her arm and said please do not do that. She looks and says well its dirty anyway. Before I could say anything the black woman says you people are a disgrace to the mother land. By now I am upset and asked her how? She said walkin round got people thinking we just some nappy headed hoes with ur uncombed mess.

We are proud people and we keep ourselves up. That why that man died that Marley guy disgrace what you young fols will do to a race of strong proud epole. My children keep they hair combed and cleaned and pressed like folds is suppose to do. I said mam I am proud of who I am and what my people stood and fought for. I am sorry that you feel that your hair in its orginal state is not worthy of the love and attention you give your relaxed hair. I don't blame you for all of the hatred that you have within yourself I blame a system that you have not takent the time to get to know which is a generation that is very proud of whom and where we come from. But I will say this and leave I thank you for your struggles becuase if it was not for the struggles of those before me I would not be able to be the kween that I am today. When I walked away I told her kwaheri which means good bye in Swahilli. She just stood there with the white woman just shaking her head.
Can U bleive that.

Woooow! So much ignorance I dont even know where to begin to dissect it. All I can say is that you conducted yourself well and they should be ashamed of themselves.

I can believe it. People are ignorant. Kudos to you for keeping your cool, because I would have told her the only person trying to be something they are not is HER. And the white lady would have drawn back a d*mn nub...but that's just me.

Unbelievable...that's really crazy. :nono:

Like you're trying to be something you're not...whatever! That woman obviously doesn't have the sense God gave a flea. To crack on someone else's hair like that...I am disgusted.

And you really are better than I am, because I would have snapped when that white woman touched my hair and then told me it was DIRTY. I would have told her at least I don't smell like wet dog in the rain, then walked away.

Yeah, I'm mean when I'm angry. :nono: Sorry this happened to you.

OMG! I can't even beleive this!
How can she beleive what she said to you. If anything, wearing our natural hair is embracing where we come from and who we are.

Dirty and unkept can refer to anyone who is not taking care of themselves and hair, not just naturals.

It sounds like her and the white lady were ganging up on you. I don't know what I would have done in this situation. Sounds like you handled it well.

ETA- The lady also sounds as if she has deep self hatred. Otherwise, why would she take it upon herself to approach you with all that nonsense.

That's crazy! I have some mean things I wanna say but I won't type them :look: You handled yourself very well, but what they said definitely gave you an open excuse to just let it all hang out!!!! I don't usually get loud with people but that would have been one of those days!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT!!!????? That is madness! What part of NC are you in, because that is crazy? I'm in Charlotte and I haven't been here for very long, but I have never encountered any mess like that...:nono:

How offensive! I apologize to you for her arrogance and ignorance. She obviously doesn't know you so she is speaking volumes about herself, her history, her issues. You did right to bless her and keep it moving. Don't carry it with you because that is not who you are, my sister!

I am in awe at what some of you ladies relay on this forum about the encounters you have with people out in public...I cannot even imagine someone coming up to me and being that ignorant and disrespectful. Your response was dignified, on-point and very impactful...

Damn KrimsonKween...:nono::nono:
I am sorry you had to endure that nonsense. I will say that you conducted yourself VERY well.
Things will just never change, it's sad :wallbash:

You handled that quite well...

I would have walked off long before she could say anything else to me. I would have left her standing there with a smile from me just so I could procede to do my shopping(and cool down from her ignorant rants:angry2:).

so again, you handled that one quite well...don't know if I could have been that strong but I would like to think that I would have been.:ohwell:

Good Lord......my people....

KK, keep your head up! I'm sure your hair is beautiful:yep:, so big hugs - you handled it real well!:bighug:

It's Wallie World I'm not surprised.
Talk about Wal-Mart Rage.

Girl--that was opportunity to 'read' both of them---especially the sista...
Her backwards behind should know better. 'nappy heades hos' indeed.

But then again---I am confrontational, loud and I am not scare of making a SCENE (lol)--if it's well-deserved. So ignore my advice.

>>>AFTER reading the end<<<
Oh wait you did read her....Good.

Old *****!

:nono::nono: That is a shame. Why do you have to be nappy headed if you're rocking a natural? you would think she would have understood, but i guess not. I'm glad you kept your cool and showed her that for some people, wisdom does not come with age.

Wow....:nono: You handled yourself very well though...I think better than I would:lachen:

Birdie I am from Wilson but I work in Goldsboro sadly. But people of the older generation still have shame to say the slave masters mentality. White is right and black is wack.

And it is sad when you have anothr black person judging the someone of the same race. when will we learn.

Jesus would have had to take the wheel from me.

I would have cussed out the Black woman & told her how dare she call me a nappy headed *** and in front of a white person no less. I ain't gotta do nothing but stay black and die, so she can GTFOH with telling me I need to relax my hair.

THEN, I would have snatched that white lady's hand and told her, "Don't you ever in your mayonnaise & cheese sandwich eating life touch my hair." And if she said it's dirty anyway, I would have told her "Well ****, if I'm in the haircare aisle looking for shampoo, then obviously I'm washing it if that's any business of yours. Besides you smell like you need to wash your damn mouth."

[SIGH]
Girl, you have some self-control. Do you meditate?

I am not loud per se but i think I am quite adept at relaying to a person that you are not allowed to come up to me sideways talking nonsense. Chile please! Both of those huzzies would have been CORRECTED. And then touching my hair saying its dirty?? ....Chile please!
Jesus would have had to take the wheel from me.
!

Jesus would have had to take the wheel and that 5 gallon fabric softener that was about to go upside her head!

Wow....that Black woman has been hoodwinked, bamboozled and led astray!!

Poor thing, her mind is so....."processed"!! :lachen::lachen:

That white woman...I dunno....she probably would have caught one right in her face for even "thinking" of putting her filthy hands in my natural hair. OMG!! :nono:

I applaud you for the way you handled BOTH of their ignorant arses!! :yep:

:nono:Now the world is definitely ending!!! First the Sean Bell verdict, we can't have no black churches, and now THIS!

Wow!

I agree with everyone else about your handling of this situation. You did much better than me that's for sure. You hit them with some knowledge so good for you!:drunk: Now the one with the dirty hair comment would have got hit with something else too.

Unfortunately I have people in my family that feel the same way. When I wear a puff you can just see the disgust in their face. It's funny to me.

Ignorance is a terrible thing. Some people think to be accepted we should all look alike.

She went on with all yall nappy headed children walking around trying to go back to the sixties and the flower child movement

What the french toast? How does she come up with this when our hair grows this way? And we all know our hair was curly long before the sixties.

That is just trifflin'

How did her hair look?

She sound like she looked like she swammed i bacon grease.

LMBAO!!!
That is funny as hell!!!

FilthyFresh said , "Jesus take the wheel!!"

Girrrrl---you and me both!
You know what I'm sayin...? And the white lady over her touchin her hair like and telling her it's dirty...
oh no...

No--stuff like that makes my nerves bad..

@TALLONE....I'm not ghetto but I know my limits with ppl. My ghetto alter ego woulda made an appearance THAT day.

I commend her because ishe handled it with grace. It couldn't have been me. Seriously.

First of all, you didn't ask her opinion about your hair. It's one thing to have an opinion, it's another to give it when nobody asked her, or was talking to her. You handled her right and very classy. But, to tell you the truth, I would have just walked away in the middle of her sentences. That bologna needs no attention.:lachen:You shouldn't have to defend how black you are, or how natural is great, or any of that! I would have left that lady, and white lady right where they were, and continued my merry way.:yep: Your psyche needs none of that!
