I just did my relax and would like to grease my scalp as well as maintain my new growth once a week. What are you ladies using and how often?

:goodone:.......... right this is a joke?...........right?...I hope you dont mean actual grease b/c if so your gonna have to get a whooping:spank:.
But you should oil your scalp b/c grease aka Petroleum will do nothing but clog your pores and stunt your hair growth :nono:.
I oil my scalp w/an ESO mix that includes: castor, aloe, alomond, jajoba, teatree, amla, amla gold and many more and it works :yep: I oil my scalp every other day and I rub it through my hair 2x a day and then baggy for 45mins.

^^^ LMAO!! :lachen: i was thinking the same thing. i thought...she's not serious?...is she?

but for my SCALP i use oils mixed w. MN and MTG every or every other night.

Greasing your scalp clog pores and slow hair growth...Clogged pores also leads to dandruff..and a whole lot of other issues......:nono:

I do apply 100% Aloe Vera Gel to my scalp to keep it conditioned and adds moisture to the scalp

:noevil:I agree with all of the ladies responses before me. Greasing your hair will do nothing for you but leave it a mess.:nono: Try using oil (agian the oils metioned before my post work. I use EVOO and jojoba my hair loves it. Don't let me see you use the word grease again.:buttkick:

I also use an oil blend once a week of: cator oil, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, rosemary oil and ylang ylang oil.

Grease will definitely clog the pores of your scalp, but you can apply it to your hair.

Coconut Oil and Castor Oil. I put this all over my hair too.

My hair loves oils! Yay!

I understand the word grease as a noun and verb too. So I see how this term can be used to say what do you apply to your scalp?

So it's all good. I grease my scalp with coconut oil and castor oil. Hehehe!

A mix of coconut and tea tree oil. Stimulates the scalp, and promotes a healthy environment for hair growth. This is the only thing that stops my flakes:grin:

I don't grease my scalp often anymore, but when I did I used pure avocado butter. Just a tiny bit to grease my scalp only because it's very heavy. Also, Oyin Burnt Sugar Hair Pomade is an excellent replacement for petroleum and mineral oil heavy hair greases. It's all natural oils and butters, softens the hair and smells delish.:lick:

I use doo gro, the triple strenght purple stuff. Doo Gro products were recommended to me by more than one person. It is a hair grease with petrolatum but it also ontains menthol and sulfure. I have noticed extra growht with it. Is it still bad?

Nothing at all..... my scalp is healthier this way... Besides I cant find any jojoba oil that would help my scalp health. If anything, I'd use olive oil.

I don't apply products directly to my scalp anymore. When I did, I used Qhemet's tea tree & grapeseed oil to control the itchies. Now I just wash my hair when my scalp itches or has dandruff.

I tend not to put anything on my scalp at all. Since I wash it once a week it doesnt get too dry or itchy. I do moisturize the ends though. :) HTH.

ITA, I do the same thing as you runwaydream only I don't use MTG but I do use BT. and Surge

I use natural oils on my scalp.

There are many ladies on the board that use grease. Many will say it is a no-no, but I think it is not uncommon either.

really? i thought "grease" was a forbidden word around here. i actually gasped when i read the title.

hmm.. all this talk about grease makes me want to go watch the movie...GO GREASE LIGHTENING!!! :lachen: ok i need to get a life

Nothing. I stopped greasing my scalp years ago. But I do massage my scalp with oil like coconut, amla, MTG. I rub it in my hands first then massage my scalp that way. Sometimes I will use MTG in an old WGO bottle and squirt it on my scalp with the nozzle that way.

Jojoba oil mixed with essential oils (tea tree oil, peppermint, ylang ylang and lavender I think). My beautician made it for me and I no longer have dandruff!

There are people that use grease, believe it or not. With everything people are doing what works for them.

Looks at these threads. The preference is mixed - some don't/other's do.

I personally don't like my hair feeling greasy that is why I don't use it. I do use oil and my scalp is happier when I do. These thread are old, but still - people DO use grease. Not everyone, but it is not really a bad thing for some.

I don't do it anymore but when I did back in the day I used the old school green or blue grease in the little glass jar.

I hate hate hate greasy hair with the fire of a thousand suns :heated:. This is why I don't do it either. I remember those days though. Nasty, nasty, nasty!

I don't put anything on my scalp. Probably because it would cause about 5 inches of my hair to shrivel up, shrink, revert and become an instant HAM. If you are wearing your hair straight it might get in the way of the style. But I guess if you're relaxed you may not have reversion issues. But I don't think you really need to grease or oil your scalp.

I think it clogs the pores anyway. If my scalp itches I put some coconut oil (not the grease, but the actual oil) on it.

Nothing. The only time I applied anything to my scalp was when I was trying to regrow a bald spot. Otherwise, I leave my scalp well alone.

Girl, do what works for you. There are folks on here that use grease on their scalp and their hair still thrives. As Honeydew stated, what may be "bad"(although I don't think it is that bad) for some, works just fine for others.

Anyhow OP, I grease my scalp with castor oil.
