Of course this board makes me feel like I have all these wonderful friends that I have just never met in person. So my hair was finished only a few minutes ago. My braider just left my house & I couldn't wait to run upstairs, take a pic & share it with you all.

This girl is awesome. She only charged me $140 w/the hair. I don't have a diggy cam @ home (thanks to my 1 year old) so I'll be posting better pics in my Fotki next week when I return to work. Tell me what you ladies think. Faux hair always makes me feel so "diva-esque".

BTW it's synthetic hair - Batik - Outre - Loose Wave, I think it was. It took about 4 hours but that's only b/c we had to keep stopping b/c my 1 year old wouldn't listen to my older boys. I don't have the individuals that some people get in the back. And don't trip, but I allowed her to use glue to seal the cornrows. BUT...she made sure she wasn't gluing my hair & of course when she was done that was the 1st thing that I checked. The glue is nowhere near my hair. :yep:

Nakia, those are really pretty on you and I like the hair color. So how do tree braids work? Your hair is braided to the ends and then the faux hair is free flowing?

Thanks..I think there are several variations to the tree braid technique. She (the braider) would cornrow & as she was working on each cornrow, she would pick up pieces of loose extension hair & somewhat infuse them into the cornrow - basically adding them to the cornrow but pulling them out so that in the end the extension hair is sprouting from the cornrow.

I have mine cornrowed all the way to the back. My co-worker that referred me to this braider has about 3 rows of individuals/micros in the back so that she can pull hers up into a high pony. I didn't want individuals in my nape area for the health of my hair. Hope that made sense...

Thanks ladies for all of the compliments. It's 5 in the morning & as much as I hate to admit it, my scalp is a little sore. Not sore where I couldn't sleep or anything but it is reasonably sore. Any quick fixes for soreness or should I just take a few Tylenol & call it a day?

Hi Nakia, the braids look great

In referrence to the soreness you mentioned, it's always a good idea to grease your scalp with a very light oil such as pure coconut oil or EVOO, especially if your whole head has been braided up.

The tree braids look nice n neat, but I'll bet the hair dresser did them quite tight to get them looking like that:yep:

Keep the sore part of your scalp lightly greases with a light oil, and try not to pull or tug on those parts. Also make sure you wear a scarf at night, as the soreness can also be aggravated by friction of your head on the pillow x

Thanks for this advice. I did do a scarf (& a bonnet on top of that) last night. I'm trying to keep my hair looking as fresh as possible for as long as possible. The braider really didn't braid that tight. Honestly the pain didn't come until after. It's like my scalp has tightened. But I'm definitely going to oil my scalp. Again, thanks...

Yeah that's always the case!

You're welcome x

Beautiful- I really like those. I've been wanting to try tree braids for about a year- I think I may try to find someone to do them for me.

Very nice style- enjoy your "divaesqueness"

Gorgeous, how long do you think you'll keep them in for?

Of course I'm hoping that my hair will grow so fast that I'll need to take them out sooner . However, my target time is right at 2 months. My co-worker that referred me kept hers for 2 months & when she took them out there was no matting @ all.

They look great, love the color as well, what color hair is it?

Can you wash these since they are synthetic?

Oh, ok, wow. Thanks for breaking it down to me, I have a better picture now of how they work.
