I know that some of you have heard of this and are afraid to try ti because of the formaldehyde..but there's a formaldehyde free formula and it works just as well...I have 3c/4a hair and I got the treatment done and my hair is just as stright as a relaxer but without the damage..

I def have noticed a huge difference in the strength of my hair...Almost no hair falls out when I comb it and my hair stays silky and smooth without having to put any kiond of moisturizer in it.

And just so you know..I'm 100% natural. The best part is that I don't have to commit to it because it only lasts for a few months and then I can opt to have it redone or to go back to my natural hair styles. If you want more info on where you can get it done in the South Florida area let me know...

I've been a member of these boards for about 4 or 5 years now so I know how to take care of my hair and I wouldn't try something if I didn't think it would work. (my stylist laughs because she had to go out and buy a wide tooth comb because i refused to have anything else in my hair)

Here's a website about it and I'll have some pictures up in about a week

Has anyone else here tried the formaldehyde free formula?

I was thinking about getting this to transition out of my relaxer but chickened out. It's good to hear that it really works. I may rethink it..please do post pics. :yep:

you're such a tease:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::needpics:
we are all anxiously awaiting your reveal!!!! please hurry, the suspense is killing us all!

I also would like to see pics.

Are there any reasons why someone would not want to do this? I'm not familiar with it at all but it looks interesting.

I'm a little wary of this. Reading the site that has the product on it you still can't put your hair back for 4 days, no products for 4 days and if you sleep on it funny and it gets a crimp you have to flat iron/blow dry it out.

Is that what you experienced? How hard was it to keep your hair flat without tying it up for 4 days?

Good question. This sounds very similar to the Yuko Japense straightening system - can't use ponytial holders, clips, even put behind ear for a few days afterwards and no washing.

Thanks!

There's one in D.C. for DMV ladies:

Washington DC
Roche Salon/Washington Harbour

Roche Salon
1624 I St NW Washington, DC 20006

I *may* check into it but I'm too scared. It would be a great way to transition, I suppose...

since it's formaldehyde free what is the active ingredient used to get the hair straight?
Thats what makes me nervous. They aren't straight forward with what the process is and how it makes it straight, with or without formaldehyde

For the Atlanta ladies - I did a search & found one salon that does it. At 1st I became alarmed b/c someone had posted about them on Citysearch saying that they used formaldehyde & the business actually responded saying that they were using less than 0.2%, which is FDA approved. So I decided to give them a call. They actually have the formaldehyde free formula now. The salon is:
Vis-A-Vis The Salon

327 Buckhead Ave NE
Atlanta, GA 30305
Phone: (404) 266-3320

However, I could not get them to give me any price ideas over the phone. They said I would have to come in for a consultation & it was based on length, how long it would take, etc. Can anyone please tell me what's the norm as far as price? OT, do you mind sharing how much it cost you? Thanks...

Um $300 to $600 and it's temporary.

Oh and I have a question. My hair could grow 5 inches in 6 months, so is new growth not a concern? Or does it penetrate that deep that my follicles just follow suit? :lachen:

Just curious is this like Rio and Copa?

God forbid!!!:eek2: I remember those informercials, how the host would actually eat the product to show how natural and safe it was....then they got sick, hair fell out. not trying to scare anyone...I remember coming really close to trying Rio and Copa...thank God I didn't

I'm curious as well about the new growth issue, thanks for bringing it up

Hey, Kimmi! Congratulations on your new do! I really appreciate your sharing this information with us. New ideas are usually met with skepticism and fear by the masses, and it takes someone willing to venture into the unknown to shine some light on the path. Thanks for bearing this torch, and please, keep us updated!

No, you have to get touch ups.

IMO.....I need to get more info. What chemical are they using?

As far as they saying formaldehyde free..... well many companies said there treatment had low safe levels and independent testing proved otherwise, like much more otherwise so:look:
