I need a very, very, very moisturizing shampoo but do not want to spend a lot of money on one. What, in your experience, is the absolute most moisturizing, good for the hair shampoo that I would be able to get for only a few bucks? I already have CON and it has been leaving a residue on my hair which I think is making it drier. Thanks!

CON is what I was gonna say!! I know some of the other hair sistas will chime in shortly. I use some expensive ones so I cant be of much help on this.

Try the elasta qp cream shampoo, you can find it at sallys for like 3 bucks at most. I also like the elasta qp shampoo for relaxed hair

I also like the Sunsilk hydracare(pink) shampoo and the neutrogena triple moisture poo. I have the loreal smooth intense shampoo and conditioner you can have if you want. Just pm me if you want to try it.

I was also gonna say CON. Most of us love that stuff. It has a teenie bit of lye in it.

I've had success in the past with the new Dove brand shampoo.

And I also like Queen Helene Placenta Shampoo.

which CON do you use? they have like 8 different labels. I use the green label. I love it.

Maybe you need to clarify first (I clarify every time i wash with nexxus aloe rid, then use CON right after) Something on your hair may be causing it to clump and leave residue.

Hmmmm, i dont know....

I do like CON but I think that if you use it too much it is counterproductive. I need something that is ultra moist that I can use all the time without any adverse effects. Anyone else?

Tenjoy took the words right out of my mouth. Try clarifying.
I use the CON with the Blue label (for fine, limp hair).

Actually, if shampooing is drying your hair out, try using conditioner to wash your hair instead. I really don't even use shampoo any more and my hair is clean and moisturized.

I only clarify on an as-needed basis and co-wash as well. Not crazy about CON having lye in it either. I just need something that is very benign (no crazy ingredients in it like lye) and moisturizing. Thanks ladies for the responses.

The lye is only in it to stablize the pH.

Ok, so it's not the lye that gives CON that silkening effect? I always thought that it was lightly straightening my hair.

No, con is sulfate free and has wheat germ protein which helps moisturize and makes the hair feel silky. The lack of sulfate agents really helps your hair feel soft. The lye is on of the last ingredients and it is just one of the cheapest ways to control pH in products.

I use Phytojoba, Phytoneutre, and ORS - maybe too pricey. Maybe you can try Trader Joes Nourish Spa or J/A/S/O/N sea kelp - I think oth are moisturizing and the TJ's is less than two bucks.

Now I'm confused.:drunk:
I thought it was the CON drying me out. I will look into the other rec's. There is a Traders Joes down the street from the job.

If you use one shampoo too much then it's time for a clarifying shampoo. V05 makes a kiwi and lime clairfier for 99 cents.

I LOOOOVE Motions Lavishing Shampoo. It's like $3. I tried so many shampoos out there, even high-end ones (Keracare, Mane-N-Tail, ORS, etc.). I always had to re-wash to undo all the tangles everything else gave me.

OP, I hate CON too. Every single time I use that poo, my conditioners don't work. I am so not trying to clarify every wash. Anyway, I've heard Elasta QP creme conditioning poo is good, so I'm gonna try that next. I didn't really like Dove or Nexxus Therappe.

I use Neutrogena Triple Moisture Shampoo. It is moisturing and lathers up very well. I love it! You can find it at Target or WalMart for about $4.99.

ORS Olive Cream Shampoo
Nexxus shampoos (most drugstores have this now)

I use Nexxus but that doesn't really count as very inexpensive. My bottle of Therappe was almost $9 and it wasn't a big one. The NTM Shampoo works well. But I think it has cones. I tried it when I was relaxed and was pleased though. I've never been a fan of CON. My mom used to use it on me when I was younger and my hairdresser told her to stop using it because my hair didn't like it.

What about the Motions Conditioning Shampoo? I used that a lot when I was relaxed and it works well. Or the Sunsilk Hydra TLC shampoo?

I found Suave "Mositurizing Milks" at Walmart for $.96. The shampoo and conditioner were both less than $2.00. I tried it, and while it wasn't great, it did moisturize somewhat. The smell was yummy though. :lick:

I love the following:

CON
ORS Aloe Shampoo
Motions
Pantene Relaxed & Natural
NTM

If you are experiencing build up, you probably need to clarify. But these are the best, least expensive.

If you want something a little more expensive, then I really like Elucence.

How is the Sunsilk? What does it compares too? Have you tried their masque? I started to pick this up today but I got the Breakage Defense Masque.
