Does anyone lean over the bath anymore?

It seems like everyone stands in the shower to wash their hair.

There are times that i feel waterlogged as i'm in the shower for so long, washing, oil rinsing, conditioning, detangling.

There are times when i really don't want to get in the shower but need to wash my hair.

Does anyone still do it the old fashioned way and bend over the bath?

I used to wash out deep conditioners in the sink, since that was the last step in my hair care process..but my belly is in the way now, so I have to get right back in the shower

I do. I hate washing my hair in the shower because hair gets all over my body. Then I'm standing there pulling strands off my arms, legs etc.

I've never really been a fan of washing my hair in the shower. It doesn't work well for me. :nono:

When I'm at my parents house (my mom does my relaxers) I bend over the tub there. It's just easier for me that way. My parents and I both have the shower head that you can detach and move, so I think that helps.

I do both. I just can't spend all day in and out of the shower. So , sometimes I use a an attachment used for rinsing out the shower and wash my hair bent over the shower. That can be bad for the back and neck at times.

I bend over backwards in my kids' tub using a spray extension. I love my hair so much I "bend over backwards" for it!:lachen:

When I relaxed at home, I would do the entire process leaning over the tub. I didn't think it would be good for the rest of my body to be exposed to relaxer residue in the shower:nono:.

Now that I'm transitioning, I haven't been leaning over the tub. Detangling would be even harder if I had to redirect all my hair from the top of my head, back down. Some of these coils are already protesting...I don't need to fuel the fire.

I do. I don't like getting in and out of the shower. I usually co-wash bent over in the tub and jump in the shower after deep conditioning.

sounds uncomfortable. :look:

Actually I have never done it that way. I have always done it in the shower. Less detangling when I do it like that.

If you lean over the tub or basin, how are you detangling under 'the flow of water'? or do you think this is unnecessary?

I used to in my old house, but the shower is separate from the tub in the new one. :ohwell: Lately I've been using the sink in the kitchen a lot.

great question, I wanted to ask the same question today, wondering which way is better. I'm gonna lean over the bath today to wash my hair.

I still do. I don't ever wash my hair in the shower. It's too time consuming.

My hairdresser said washing the hair in the tub (after bathing in it) is a no no. :ohwell: Not sure if that's even true but she says you can catch scalp infections from doing that like...ringworm.

I never knew that before and now I put a 1/3 a cup of bleach into the water (I guess mimicking public swimming pools). :ohwell:

It doesn't dry out my skin. Not sure if it's worth it or not but...I do it anyway and I never wash my hair in my bath water. She got me all paranoid...

OR do you mean bent over under running water. :spinning:

I do lean once in a while...I hate getting back and forth in the shower especially after drying off. So often, I'll shampoo and condition in the shower, and then rinse out the dC with the old fashion method...it all depends on my mood
Once in a while I will wash my hair in the kitchen sink using the hose attachment

I think that is what she means!:yep:

but to answer the question, I have done it in kitchen sink... its just that my hair detangles better when I wash it in the shower b/c my hair is laying down flat in that direction as opposed to upwards in the sink.

I do this all the time. Or I use a spray attachment in my kitchen sink. I never wash in the shower. I like to DC, and I don't want to get in and out the shower.

I had been postponing washing my hair for two weeks because of the shower. I just did not feel like getting in and out the shower to wash/condition. Each time I planned to wash, I got turned off at the thought of all the in and out.

If I wash over the sink, My hair gets tangled and trying to comb it backwards causes breakage. I finally washed this morning in the shower before work. I really need a deep conditioner and I'm so lousy at blowdrying. It seems my hair is always still damp and sorta of puffy each time. I would rather have someone else wash it, but that can get expensive eash time.

I'm think of going to the Aveda salon on my lunch and getting it washed over!

Last week when I self relaxed I washed my hair under the water flow in the tub. I don't like the feeling of product all over me and it takes forever in the shower. In the shower I used to shampoo, DC, bathe, then rinse out conditioner, but I always felt dirty again because of the conditioner, so I would have to bathe again completely. Now I just bend over in the bath tub. I have less tangles and the pressure from the tub is sufficient to rinse thorougly.

Separate your hair straight down the middle of your head (vertically), pull the hair to the side, and wash each half in that direction.

I'm always down on my knees leaning over the bathtub when I wash my hair. I have very sensitive skin and I will breakout if I get some of the oils and conditioner on my back and shoulders. I don't like trying to do this in the shower and have all that running down my back, hips and legs. I sure don't want to slip in the shower.... which can gets very slippery trying to wash, condition and the rest in the shower standing up. I do commend those that have mastered the art of standing in the shower. I'm just more comfortable down on my knees with a towel underneath them for comfort.... leaning over the tub with all my shampoos, towels, conditioners, oils, etc.
