Was it:

Products - Name them

Consistenlty - How long before your hair went crazy in growing?

Or Just Plain old time it just happend.

I remembered back in the day how shampooing my hair twice a week really made it take off or was it the products I had? I dont know which so I am doing test times to find out so I can master this secret once and for all.

Protein.

Adding a strong-medium protein product to my regimen really made a HUGE difference in the retention, length and strength of my superfine hair.

Products: s-curl before they changed the formula last year. It was a good run from 2009 until the beginning of 2013.
Methods: weekly washing, hide your hair periods, learning to do my own hair in natural styles not just the straight hair or fake hair styles.
I noticed my hair changed after my first hide your hair challenge.

Products: Paul Mitchell The One Conditioner
Oils: EVOO, grape seed, almond, jojoba
Sulfur oil on scalp

Consistent: no heat ( only applied heat 2x this year)
no manipulation ( buns or cornrolls only)
Water, water, water is great for you inside and out

Noticed a big difference within a month

Thanks ladies and I was using the S-Curl too I just looked into my Fotki and I have notice that Protein just works on your hair but balance it with mositurizing. I want to go back to Oliver Oil and I was also using Sulfur too. In the past I had too much products so now I got to experiment to find what really worked for me. It will be a journey but I determined to nail it down.

Thanks again for sharing.

Products - Protein/Moisture balancing products (Komaza Protein Strengthener), Silk Dreams Vanilla Silk (moisture), NJoy's sulfur oil.

Consistently - How long before your hair went crazy in growing? Never went crazy. I did have growth spurts in the Spring/Summer.

Or Just Plain old time it just happend.

Products: Silicon Mix DC, Lacio lacio leave-in, Aphogee 2 step, & Darcy's Transitioning Cream

My retention is effortless when I use these products consistently...

Sulfur mix on scalp
No heat
Phyto phanere hair vitamins (unfortunately made my cycle go crazy too)
Co-washing frequently

I've found that a simple regimen put a kick in my hair.

*Moisturizing and sealing once a day

*DC once a week

*Shampooing once a month (But, now I'm leaving shampoo alone, and trying a monthly ACV and water treatment)

*A weekly light protein treatment

*Returning to henna. But, this time I'm only doing monthly root treatments and once a year full head treatments.

*Cowashing as necessary.

*No heat

*MSM supplements

Products: Coconut/Avocado oils, Oyin Handmade Hair Dew, Jamila henna, Aphogee 2-Minute, Jessicurl Weekly Deep Treatment

1. Keeping it simple.

2. Learning my porosity, strand size and density

3. Banding

4. ACV

5. Limiting my cone usage. (I'm Low to no Cone)

6. Layering my products (liquid, creams, oil, butters....in that order lol)

Weekly protein reconstructor DC's (AO Gpb) along with lo-poo (scalp only diluted shampoo); and castor oil rinses.

My hair thrived when I stuck to the Crown & Glory braid regimen religiously and was using heat weekly when not in braids. I used to retain all my growth back then and barely had splits.

Protein in my DC's. I love ORS replenishing, and Joico's moisture balm. Bunning too! I moisturize and seal when dry.

No direct heat.

Growing up I was always at WL at the very shortest, I only began losing length when irons grew in popularity. Lost a little length when my hairdresser started giving some passes after rollerset/blowdrying. Lost even more length when I switched to a hairdresser that wouldn't rollerset but jut blowdry it dry and iron extensively. I had severe breakage (little pieces of hair everywhere) once I started ironing myself at 450 with 3-4 passes weekly.

I stopped relaxing (still transitioning) but my previous setbacks actually have zero to do with relaxers, just direct heat.

Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for my hair to thrive/take off, so this is a very informative and to the point thread.

What is the crown & glory braid regimen? Thanks and hair looks awesome.

1. Regular trims (not trimming doesn't work for me).

2. Staying away from heat (haven't flat ironed or hot curled my hair in years). I air dry.

3. Protective Styling.

4. Regular hair washing (I wash a few times a week = my hair loves water - helps to keep it moist).

5. Finding the right products for my hair.

Wearing it straight. This eliminated all the knots on the ends. My hair also became easier to moisturize. The best product I use is nexxus emergencee. This medium protein treatment keeps my strands strong and shiny

Marshmallow Root, Slippery Elm, and Fenugreek have given my hair a second life. :yep: I have never had a combo detangle my hair like this 3 herb combo does (and I've tried a gang of products). I make a DIY detangler with them and for the past month I have enjoyed my hair so much more because the frustration of detangling and removing shed hair has subsided immensely. I wish I found this out years ago. I'm now experimenting with creating my own DC and leave in using them.

What is your mixture?

- no more relaxers
- washing my hair more often
- salon visits limited to once or twice a year
- using good products
- trimming every 12-18 months
