is this new growth i look at the other ladies new growth and its more wavy looking mine puffs up.

Sounds like new growth. Generally speaking, what your new growth looks like depends on your hair type.

everyone has a different texture. If your NG is different from your relaxed hair then yes that is considered NG.

Yup! That's new growth. You should do some research on relaxers and relaxed hair. How long have you been relaxed? You seem to have been kept in the dark for a long time

I was going to say the exact same thing that she must have been relaxed all her life that she can remember.

so is this the first time that you have been taking care of your hair?

I've been taking care of my hair all my life. i protective style all the time

Your hair is growing as we speak. If you don't see any change in the length of your hair, it is breaking off as fast as it grows. If your hair didn't grow, you would never need a touch up. BuildableBeauty has great length retention tips on YT. Search this site for more info on retaining the length that you grow and how to take care of the NG.

Yeah this is a bit confusing. You've been living for decades; hair has grown all along, so not sure why you question whether it's "NEW" growth.

What did hair growing out of your scalp look like before? What type of texture did you see grow out of your head before? Are you relaxed?

I have read that sometimes hair just doesn't grow past a certain length. I've always had trouble getting past my shoulders, so appreciate your arm pit length! ;)

You are not doomed to be apl. You could protective style all you want but you might not maintaining length b/c over trimming or mechanical damage (excessive or rough combing/brushing)

if you're relaxed, the new growth might shrink up, which makes it seem like your hair isn't growing...or it could be breaking off :ohwell:

Something you are doing is not helping you to retain length.

you might want to re-examine your daily and weekly routine and start changing one thing at at time.

i was stuck at shoulder length too but its easy to reach armpit length. i've read about alot of ladies trying to push past armpit length hopefully i can get threw this.
