Because it's there, soap and cone free and has mostly natural ingredients. It's called Naturally Green Tropiclean and here are the ingredients:
Water
Oatmeal
Papaya extract
Aloe extract
Chamomile extract
Yucca extract
Kiwi extract
Mango extract
Mild Coconut cleanser (????)
fragrance?
Protein
Vitamin E.

It smells very fruity... Like mixed juice :lick: usually leaves my hair smooth and soft (during the thirty seconds before conditioner goes in lol).

A 20oz is about eight bucks. I guess this could be an alternative to some of the more expensive natural shampoos?

You know you just started something right? :look: :lachen:

Shooo...if people started using shampoo/condish for horses then.....I'm tryna find out what's in that detangling spray

ETA: Ingredients: Purified water, hydrolyzed plant protein, chamomilla recutita (chamomile) flower extract, vitamin E, actinidia chinensis (kiwi) fruit extract, proprietary cationic emulsion, fragrance

I LOL'd when I read the thread title!

But hey, if it works....

And the ingredients are pretty good, too.

Girl I was in Marshalls a few weeks ago and thought about picking up some dog shampoo. I mentioned this in the RT thread LOL

Now here you go putting it front and center, do your thang girl

Those ingredients look better than anything I've seen on a regular shampoo bottle. I'm getting tempted...

:lachen:Well...considering the Dog Brush--I'm sorry Tangle Teezer--is such a hit, this isn't much a stretch! :lachen:

Hey, I've put Monistat on my scalp. Why not? Thanks! LOL

ETA: Oops, didn't see the protein at first. But it's a good thought!

I just wanna know...what made you try it? Do tell! Were you out of shampoo, looking at the dog's shampoo like "well..it couldn't hurt, right? And Fido's coat is always so shiny..." or did you actually go to the pet store stalking pet products for your hair? J/K I really am curious, though!

This shampoo is not soap free.

The mild coconut cleanser is a surfactant (aka soap). The mild coconut cleanser can be a variety of things.

Decyl glucoside, coco-betaine, sodium laureth sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate, disodium laureth sulfosuccinate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, cocamide dea , sodium myreth sulfate, Sodium cocoyl sarcosinate, and quite a few other surfactants are derived from coconut oil.

the proprietary cationic emulsion is probably this
DOW CORNING® 949 CATIONIC EMULSION

Description
A 35 percent cationic emulsion of an aminofunctional silicone polymer, contains non-tallow surfactant, but does not contain alkylphenol ethoxylate (APE) emulsifiers for use in hair care applications.
INCI Name: Amodimethicone (and) Cetrimonium Chloride (and) Trideceth-12

This company(just like aubrey organics and giovanni) uses creative labeling

Interesting .....how long have u been using it for?

A couple of months. I alternate between this and suave almond and Shea butter shampoo. I'm a bit of a pj so I have a lot of stuff lying around I'm trying to use up.

That's what I thought. With the exception of the coconut cleanser, I was shocked there wasn't a bunch of blahblahblahhydroxywhatthehellisthisase

Wash my chihuahua with it a couple of times and his coat looked so shiny and soft! Then I read the ingredients and said... Hmmmm. Looks good. I'm still in the process of finding what works better for my hair, so I figured wth?

With all the things ppl have used on this board..this is mild in comparison.
It's like as I read the title I imagined someone saying it...too funny.

The coconut cleanser, is the 9th ingrediant down so it can't be that bad. Still, better than most shampoos out there

The cleanser is the second ingredient. I know the general rule is that ingredients are listed in order of highest concentration but that is not the case with this shampoo. The extracts are "fluff" ingredients to make the product appear more natural than it really is. Extracts tend to make up less than 1% of a product. However the concentration of surfactants in a shampoo range from about 25 - 40%.

by the way I never said the shampoo was bad. I just want people to be informed about the actual ingredients in the product. People will purchase this shampoo based on the misconception that it doesn't contain soap when it actually does. I don't have anything against shampoos or sulfates. The overall formulation of a shampoo trumps the presence of a single ingredient. I judge products by their performance and results. If it works, use it.

I have never smelt dog shampoo. If it smells good, i don't see the problem. If Megatek is OK, then.....???

You may want to check on that, OP. Dog shampoo has a different pH than our stuff. I don't get into pH and whatnot, but you may want to research that.

Good point. The puppy and kitten shampoo is said to be pH balanced. What that means exactly I don't know (animal hair vs. human pH) but some AVG could balance it out if it's not.

ETA: I remember using diluted vinegar rinse on my dog one time after using Dawn dish washing liquid on her (she had contracted fleas somehow) and her hair was so darn soft afterwards. Ok I'm ramblin! I just read that human shampoo should not be used on a dog because of the high pH in some brands. Dog shampoo should have a low pH.
