Ladies, I am hysterical.

I take care of my own hair, and with that I have been able to achieve some impressive length over the past year. I love(d) my hair.

I decided to treat myself to a salon visit and requested a dusting of my ends/a trim because I wanted a little more shape.

"Any special requests?" my stylists (who I trust) asked me. I replied, "Yes, please retain my length. I have been growing my hair and taking care of it for a whole year."

He replied with, "Of course! You didn't even have to say anything. You've been growing it for a year why would we chop it all off?"

I had on a dark shirt, and also I was facing away from the mirror while he was trimming my hair. Here is the end result (when I got home, had on a white shirt, and did a thorough investigation)

Welp, I have already cried my eyes out.

What is everyone taking to help aid them along their hair growth journey? I stopped using all products but as of yesterday (right after my "trim") I started a regimen of

(2) MSM 1,000mg
(2) BioSil Capsules
(4) D3 5000 IU
(4) Biotin 5mg
(4) B-12 500mcg
(2) Centrum A to Zinc

I'm sorry that happened to you. Your hair looked very healthy before as well as after. I guess the only silver lining is that you can continue to protect those ends to minimize getting any other trims in the future. Or you can learn to do your own trims in the future.

1) Vitamin Shoppe Hair, Skin and Nail vitamins (I actually like these better than the more expensive brand).

2) 10,000 mcgs Biotin

3) Banyan Botanicals Healthy Hair vitamins (basically oral ayurveda ie. Brahmi, Bhringaraj, etc..)

4) 3,000 mg MSM

5) Just got some M-T-G but don't think I'll use it anymore because of the splitting headache I got the first time I used it.

You're right. No use in crying over spilled milk. I will never trust anyone to cut my hair again, I will have to learn to be self reliant. Thank you!

Thank you! I think I'm going to order the Vitamin Shoppe vitamins and Banyan Botanicals vitamins.

I'm sorry this happened to you, and it does look like he cut off a lot. It's looks like he cut it into a blunt hairstyle which I don't understand, because it looks like your hair grows into a V shape naturally.

I don't think it really looks like that much. But I know how you feel. I am sorry this happened to you. But the cut does look great and your ends look all nice and blunt. How pretty.

You're welcome. I think it's okay to cry over a loss. You spent a year working hard on getting your hair how YOU wanted it and someone took that away. It's natural to be upset but at least you realize what you need to do in the future.

On the question about the vitamins, it seems like a lot to take. Maybe find a multi-vitamin or hair, nails, and skin vitamin so it'll make it easier to create a routine.

Make sure you read up on side effects on the vits too. Good luck on your journey!

OP, I think your supplements are fine as they are. I don't think you need to specifically get hair skin and nails. I think a complete multi like you're taking is better coz trust me, if your body isn't getting what it needs, you can take all the hair supps you want but they'll never get to your hair.

The only change I'd suggest is instead of just B12, take a B complex. Biotin will make you break out if you don't take it with with B5.

If you must add a hair multi, just make sure it is one that only adds stuff you're not taking. If you take more than 25,000 IU of vitamin A, you may be getting into the toxic zone where your hair will fall out. You don't want to overdo anything, so just make sure you're body is getting served first (hence the regular multi) and your hair will then get its share.

I don't think you need to increase your dosage either. If you take more than your body can process, you just pee it away, which is a waste. You are taking plenty so keep it that way, not more.

Oh yeah, FYI, the VS brand is a regular multi with added stuff like Horsetail, Cysteine, Gelatin, etc...

The Banyan Botanical has no vitamins or minerals in it whatsoever. Strictly ayurveda.

Thank you, and yes it does grow into a natural V shape! I never knew until my hair started to grow.

Wow, that's a lot of really good advice. Thank you

not true herbs, naturally contain tons of vitamins and minerals....this in addition to healthy eating/excercise is how folks got a balanced diet, a long time ago....this is why herbal medicine works, ayurvedic otherwise.

Your hair will grow back and now you know to avoid him for trims. I am sorry you had to find out this way about the stylist.

As for the vitamins, add Vitamin C to your list. It helps you to absorb Vitamin B.

Good to know. If it wasn't for the fact that I need more of the individual nutrients in my multi than this contains, then I'd get that. But it's good info for someone who takes just any ol' multi and wants a hair multi too.

(((hugs))). I hope your hair grows back quickly. Your hair was really special looking and it seems he was trying to make it look average.

Yes I do my own trims thanks to scissor happy stylist.

Ivy_Isabella he cut a lot IMO. Your hair was beautiful before and it's still beautiful now but the cut was totally unnecessary.

I totally agree with everyone! Your hair was beautiful! My hair grows in a V shape too. Stylists would always want to "even" me up too. It will grow back before you know it. But DEFINITELY start doing self-trims!

I am so sorry for your loss. Haters are everywhere and can be anyone!! Its so unfortunate that u got a hater perpertrating as a stylist.

Sorry this happened to you! :bighug:

Your hair was and still is beautiful!

You went from boob length to a little above APL. So i understand your pain and frustration. Good to see you moving along though and making plans already. Good for you. :yep:

:bighug:

I'm sorry to hear this, but your hair was beautiful then and is still beautiful now. I've expereinced this too, but take comfort in the fact that it will grow back. :yep:

Your hair looks lovely before and after...But I can totally understand how you feel especially when he asked for your "Special Request"...Take a couple of months and do some low manipulation styling and you will probably surpass where you were...Happy Hair Growing!

Ok. Let me restate. The Banyan Botanicals doesn't have a list of Vit. A, B, C, etc...it has strictly ayurvedic ingredients on the label. I'm aware that everything that edible has a nutrient profile.

The same thing happened to me in June by a "trusted stylist". I was hoping to make mbl by dec of this year. I am now back at apl. I am now a self trimmer and will not give another scissor happy stylist a chance to whack off all of my progress. It's happend to me to many times. There are so many great women on here who self trim and are willing to share advice.
