Clarification please?

Am I understanding you are suggesting posting just your results in this thread instead of the other one because there are too many pages to it?

Yeah I think that is what she means but how about we wait for Adora to decide if we should open a second jheri juice thread, then if she creates a second one, we can use that. Sorry OP:look:

Clarification:

#1. I am not starting a second challenge. I am not suggesting that challenge should end. But it is a lot of thread to wade through to find what I am specifically looking for.

#2 I did not know that it would be out of line to hear success stories using S curl, activators and jheri juice methods outside of that thread. There were PREVIOUS THREADS about the juice before the Jheri Juice Challenge started. People were using the juice before the challenge. MY BAD.

#3. Sorry you misunderstood my intentions. I do not think that Adora would feel that someone's excitement about hearing results was off limits. She really does not strike me as that sort of person. She initiated the Challenge Post and it can go on indefinitely. I respect that.

If anyone does not feel that it would be 'disloyal' to share outstanding results, I would be more than happy to hear from them

No. I am also in the Jheri Juice Challenge in that long thread.. I also am not suggesting a second jheri juice CHALLENGE thread. Further, I would not presume to tell anyone that they should not post there. Are you serious? I did not realize it was that complicated.

Are you saying that we can not talk about any results we have with any of our products outside of that thread, or specifically, that is where we have to go to get any information about how glycerine juices are working for anyone?...as in results.

OKAY......let me leave that alone then.

Hey Mahalia! I don't think that anyone should have a problem with discussing their results in this thread. And I don't see why anyone else would have to check with another person before posting here....Not sure what thats all about. But you asked a question so here I am to answer!! :)

I only use "the juice" on certain days. It is hit or miss for me because glycerin is affected by the weather. But, when I do use it and the weather is just right, it leaves my hair VERY soft and moisturized. I use Pink Short Looks SassAFrazz Spray. It smells good and when used correctly, doesn't leave a film or build up.

hope that helps :)

lol uh.... i dunno whats going on in here lol

but ummm. what kinda results you looking for? like testimonials or actual progress pix? are you limited to regular juice or homemade juice too?

bump bump! anymore results? i have been on and off with the jheri juice but i think i might start getting serious next week (after finals are done and over with)

I think it's a good idea to use this as a separate thread for results and progress. I'm in the challenge but I STAY OUT of the actual thread because there is waaayyy too much activity going on over there. I don't think Adora's permission is needed for people to update in this thread nor do I think she would actually mind. The other thread can still be used for updates as well, but having a seperate one for PROGRESS only is more efficient if I or anyone else wants to see directly how the juice has been affecting other people's hair.

I'd loved to see pics and read updates. Why are some of you so worried for. No one owns the rights to threads or talking about curl juice. Gosh.

I can see both sides. It would be nice to see what AdoraAdora thinks since she got us all hype wit da juice (I know I ain't by myself :nono:lol). I would love a more condensed and focused thread though. I'm only on page 65 of the challenge thread - the challenge may be over by the time I read thru to the end:blush:.

BTW - I have a question. I'm natural (4a I think) and I was wondering how to apply the juice if you are wearing two strand/kinky natural twists without getting all frizzy. I am currently straightened (and puffy :wallbash:) but will probably twist after the next wash- TIA (thanks in advance)!

OP, I think this is a good idea.

As for the juice, I tried using it for a while, but it's not humid enough here, in Chicago, for me to use so much glycerine. It's not making my hair feel too good right now. But I know when summer hits, It will be on! LOL

Thank you all for the replies ladies:

1. I pray that my hair is not glycerine sensitive. What are the symptoms? 2. For the first time in my life, glycerine is not making my hair hard or snapping the ends. I remember though that I was mixing it with oils and with conditioners but I WAS NOT USING THE CAP or baggie. I think also my strands were damaged at the time. As for now, So far so good.
3. How has it been working for you ladies with baby fine hair and how often do you juice and baggie? Do you allow your hair to get fully dry between times?
I want so much to maximize my retention WITHOUT ANY SETBACKS. Also I live in cold Canada so I baggie every day for a few hours. I do not go outside with a wet head. I generally scarf it anyway.

What does this mean and how can you tell....what happens? (yikes!)

Sometimes it can make your hair very mushy if your hair is sensitive to it (especially if you have fine hair). My hair takes to it much better in the form of a braid spray or mist, like African Royale BRX braid & extension spray :yep:

A think a separate thread for progress pics, before/after would be good.

You have to admit, that thread is awfully long to wade through and seems like a chill, check in, joke around and have fun place. But the EFFECTS of the juicing, the pictures and what have you get lost in the mix.

i was dreading going through all of the pages in the other post lol this'll be much easier. i just want to see how it affects people's hair b/c i'm thinking of doing the challenge on my own

Do any of you ladies have baby fine hair? and curly and dense to boot? what changes are you noticing from consistent use of the juice?

One thing I have noticed is that once my hair is dry, I am able to comb through it without a serious problem and it seems to have doubled in thickness.

The other thing is that I have one layer just below the top of my head, in the crown area, that was always feeling crisp and looking uneven. The ends felt awful most of the time.
That area seems to be blending in with the rest of the hair in terms of TEXTURE, AND THE ENDS. Not only that, it is GROWING IN THICKER THERE AND LONGER.

Now, I want these results to last. Is there such a thing as a SATURATION POINT with the juice, where the moisturizing effect reverses? Can that happen? The reason I ask is that I am on week 3 of consistent juicing.

Okay. I am using the African Gold Curl Activator. So far so good. It was the sprays that were messing me up in the past. I tried, diluting it, mixing it and NOT SO GOOD. It would always get hard and dry hard. The one I am NOW using is thick and I apply it, or slather it on by hand and then I double baggy. It does not get hard. I wash it out with an Ayurvedic Powder Wash (well strained) and then follow up with a coffee rinse. I oil after all that.

I have not experienced any MUSH yet but I will def keep my eyes open for that.

I try to baggy every nite after I 'juice.' My hair stays plaited up all the time and it is always 'mushy.' Is this not a good thing? I DC every week and I am using MT.

I do notice that it seems thicker and the S curl gives it a 'hint' of shine.

I have fine hair that is on the thicker side. I also have an area smack dab in the middle of my head that has a complete different texture than the rest of m hair. All I can say is that cfcg leaves my hair moisturized like never before and I have tried many moisturizing conditioners. So I first started using the juice in kinky twists. I was very surprised when I removed the twists in this middle section as I could no longer tell the difference between it and the rest of my hair (it is usually coarser and much drier). Lately I have been spritzing it in my hair (out) every other day...I don't saturate it and I don't use a baggy (just spray and plait every other night). It has been working beautifully my hair is sooo misturized and has a healthy sheen to it that it never had before (even the previously coarser area even though this area is no different now). I will try it in weaves pretty soon but I think the results should be similar to what I got while I was in kinky twists. So to sum up...I have fine thick hair and what I have learned from my hair is that it does NOT like being overmoisturized......granted this was when it was relaxed but I think it still applies...I dont think with fine hair I would saturate my hair with it just because of possible overmoisturization and buildup. I think I would gradually build up in applications until I started seeing negative effects in my hair.

My daughter's hair is really doing well with "the juice". I use S-curl on her hair every morning, seal with Hot Six oil and throw in a phony pony.

I'm in Chicago as well, and I find the temperature changes incredibly frustrating. However, I don't believe they too much affect the benefits of juicing. More on that later.

Nah its cool, I was just sayin. I think Adora is sticking to the old thread for now...she just said for everyone to post their pics in the original thread like two days ago so...yeah idk:look:

Hmmm, must have missed that post. I could have promised that there was supposed to be a pictures/results only thread. Oh well, no drama intended. :peace:

Anyhow, I really like the idea of this thread. The other one really is a tad bit heavy if you are trying to just get the results. It is so fun though.

As for the results

My history using the juice

Just so you know, I've basically only been using s-curl (I put a little castor oil on my scalp for a week, but I'm stopping now; it's not necessary). After I wash my hair, I apply s-curl straight up to my hair. Throughout the week, and spritz my hair twice a day (once in the morning, and once in the evening) with a diluted mixture of water (2/3) and s-curl (1/3) (2 oz. bottle fyi).

I've joined several product challenges in the past, and this is the first one I've seen results with. When I detangle my hair, I honestly see a reduction in breakage, and shedding is far less than before. I think it's because the juice is just about moisture, and that's all my hair needs. Not oil or heavy butters, but just juice. I used to be a die hard shea butter kind of girl, and the JJC has made me realize that my fine hair benefits so much more from a thinner, water-based product. It's as if my hair has the ability to breathe, and the reason why the shea wasn't working is because my hair was being suffocated.

However, life ain't no bowl full of cherries.

Problems I've had with the juice

1. My hair was (thank you Lord) overly porous, and this caused the juice to be ineffective. I now know that my porosity problems are what led me to use such heavy products. However, I've found that my porosity issues were a direct result of my water source. I live in an area that has extremely hard water (click here for a hard water map). I am so happy that I have found a solution to this problem through ACV rinses and a chelating shampoo (Elasta QP Creme Conditioning Shampoo being my favorite-and not just for chelating but because it doesn't strip my hair at all) . I also tried Porosity Control, but I hated that stuff. ACV rinses work much better in my opinion.:yep:

2. Issues with humidity. As I stated above, I live in Chicago. If you know anything about Chicago, it should be the weather. You can go through all the seasons in one week (and IMO Chicago only has 2 seasons-hot and cold). I had the "pleasure" of experiencing the "one week-2 seasons" a while back. I kind of appreciated it though because I got to experiment with the humidity issues. This is what I've found:

a-my hair feels so much softer and smoother when there is more humidity in the air.

b-my hair doesn't feel bad in the absence of humidity. I'll talk more about the the way my hair feels in issue number 3.

3. My hair can sometimes feel dry and smooth at the same time. That might not make sense, but it's true. Sometimes I can feel my hair, and if I rub it it's a little dry feeling (and it's not like my hair is dry; it's just the way the s-curl makes it feel). However, if I unravel my hair, it feels really smooth (worth nothing: my ends always feel great).

4. Barely any definition when I style. I'm just now starting to style my hair, but still. I might just need to improve my technique-especially since I refuse to use gel.

5. My scalp is starting to itch. I believe this is because I don't rinse my hair every single day. This might just be the clencher for whether or not I continue to use the juice after I finish the bottle.

Anywhoodle, even through all the bad (which isn't serious-as previously stated, I've found solutions to most of my problems, #5 is the exception) I experience, I'm still willing to put up with it because of the benefits. I seriously have not seen this few hairs when doing my weekly washings.
