ok so i want a lip ring...again! my last one closed up :wallbash:
but i also want fusia bangs and obviously it wont look good on natural hair it will just looks like a random patch of fusia in the front of my head. so i was thinking of getting a full sew in with bangs and purple hair up front. not ALL purple it will be layered purple and black and cut into a blunt style. then i want tattoos: one under my wrist(me and my best friends initials), one up my arm (i was thinkin assorted stars done in diff ways) and when i told my mom this she said i'm black and ill look like white trash
what do you guys think??

Try it, what ever makes u feel good, however If you are trying to be unique, dont do the star tattoo's they are EVERYWHERE! and can look trashy, everything else go for it :)

I wouldn't get nobodys name or initials tatt'd on me. You never know what will happen 5 or 10yrs from now. I'm also not a fan of excessive piercings and tatts. That said, do you.

true, i should probably just get my mamas initials, i got my grandma on my back with wings. oh id just have one pericing-my lip :drunk:

lol, I'm in my 30's and about 70% of my right arm is tattooed so that comment from your Mom cracks me up. I get looks from women my Mom's age and they're like, "wtf?" They don't know what to think, because other than the tattoos my look is prim and minimalist semi-goth.

My only advice is that you not make too many changes at one time. You'll loose your focus and purpose. Body modification is (well it should be at least) and art form. An act of creation. And worthwhile creation takes time.

Otherwise I say do what makes you feel attractive. And you have to know that when the haters come around (and they will) that you've made the right decision for your lifestyle.

yeah i have been seeing those alot lately, and the butterfly up the arm tat. i wonder what tattoo i should get up my arm

What do *I* think? No. I'm not for sheer conformity, but I'm not for the look you described either. You may grow to regret those tattoos. I would suggest not. Big time.

If you want it that bad it won't matter what people say.

lmao thanks! dont mind my mother she is old school to a tee! she went crazy when i told her i went natural! she said i look like an afro sheen commercial when i pick my hair out and starts singing the song to afro sheen commercial from the movie crooklyn :spinning:
anywho yeah im getting my lip piercing first and i gota save up for my tattos cuz a peircing only costs like $20 but a whole arm tat would be in the hundreds:nono: but i see what ur saying its not a fad, its a lifestyle choice!!

Design your own! It's way more satisfying. That way you'll never see anyone else with it. And it will only remind you of whatever influenced you.

Nothing worse than having a tattoo that someone else has, or having one that reminds you of something you're no longer interested in.

LMAO, no she doesn't! Your Mom sounds kind of fun :)

Yeah, really I just wanted to say to take your time. There's always a better design around the corner. I've been designing my next addition to my arm for about two years now. I never even planned to have this many (this big) but I just can't stop.

I'm prone to keloids though too (which is why I can't have piercings :( ) so the arm is the only place that's safe to work on.

i aint getting no ones name on me. shooooott i regret getting my nickname on my arm when i was 16. boy was that dumb lol.

while im not for what you described at all i say do you. my parents were telling me left and right not to get a nose ring. so i never got one. it is like 6 years late and i still want one. BAD lol. im getting it this summer.
i also had a tongue ring and took it out because it just wasnt me.
i agree whit whoever said take your time with it. you dont want to go over board and then regret it.

DOOOO IIIIIITTTTT!!!! Especially the purple bangs. I had purple bangs in college, I miss being able to have colorful hair.

Def go slow on the tatts though you dont want to end up looking like some "high school girls notebook cover" as my ex told me...

I think its just way too much at once personally.

I dont think you should do something so permanent to your skin....our tastes evolve and change and down the line you may not want to be tatted up.

If you must get tatoo's dont go overboard and get them in easily concealed areas and please lord know when to stop!

As for the colorful hair I'll just say I'm glad you're getting it in a weave:yep:

yeah iv been wanting a tattoo of my gma for YEARS and i finally got it! so yeah i will slow down on the tats and really find out what i want, i want all my tats to have significance. as far as piercings i had a nose ring chebaby, i had one and i LOVED it. people kept saying i had the perfect nose for it and got lots of compliments but i took it out cuz it wasnt me :-/
but iv been wanting a lip piercing for forever and i LOVED it, i cant wait to get it redone!! i think u should do it! im going into cosmetology so i dont have to worry about jobs and all that jazz. in fact the funkier you look the more they love u!!

I love tats, I love alternative styles, and I love piercings. Ain't nothing wrong with doing you. This is the time for you to do it (you might get the side-eye at 40, lol). Have fun! I think the weave idea is a great one.

ETA, I do agree with getting tats in places that are easily concealed for employment purposes although times are changing ( I had a doc in my office that sported pink streaks, a nose ring, and tats on her forearms, and her patients/staff love her).

i say GO FOR IT!!!

color on natural hair *does* look different than it would on straight hair, but don't let that stop you. the front half of my hair is lightened, & colored red with henna. my avatar shows how it looked before i BC'd, & here's what it looks like now, with my hair in its shrunken natural state: http://twitpic.com/1f5osi

and i LOVE it!!! plus i had tons of fun with pink, purple, blue, & green hair, all in the past 2 years

and as far as the tattoos and piercings go, i say GO FOR IT as well!! just keep a few things in mind:

think about the sort of career you want to go into. if it's a conservative field, you may want to consider not getting any tattoos or piercings that would be visible. i have a HUGE tattoo on my back. it's only visible when i wear spaghetti strap shirts, and is completely hidden underneath regular tops & business suits.

the key is to get something:
a) you won't regret, &
b) you'll be able to conceal if you need to. :yep:

On the piercings and fuscia bangs, I say go for it, have fun.
On the tatoos, if you must, have it done it a place that's not too visible.
I had a total of 4 tatoos done in my early 20s. It was a hassle to conceal them for formal/professional events. Then when I became a mom, it just felt downright silly. So I decided to have them removed. That cost $250 a session--I had 3 sessions done and they're not completely faded, but I just couldn't take the pain from the laser anymore.
Anyhoo, just think long and hard...

I love all of the above, I have tats, piercings, natural hair (which I plan on dying when I take out my braids) but as much as I love my body art, I must advise you to think about what you want as a whole before you start getting random tats just because. My aunt has 36 tats and her body looks like a checkerboard b/c they're so scattered and weren't well planned. Good Luck!

WOW?! That's cheap? Around here they charge twice as much?!
I say go for it, but really think about the tatoos. You only live once, right?
I really want a nose piercing. I've wanted it since 7th grade. I asked for it for my 18th bday in 4 days but I want to get it a day before my bday..my father didn't utter a word:look: Good luck on your decision...
and REMEMBER to provide pics!

lol yes of course ill provide pics!! ill rethink the tattoos but iv been wanting a tatoo under my wrist for the LONGEST so i'll wait till i have a kid and put his initials there or something. and if i have more than one ill tell them to mind they own business when they ask me about it :lachen:
and yeah $20 is the bootleg place that wont let you come in without an ID, i usually go to blue lotus but found out ur basically paying $60 for some hoity toity jewelry, im good on that!

Do what makes you happy. I have several tattoos including initials of me and my bestie, a star on my neck, and another tattoo on my wrist. I also have my tragus and navel pierced and two holes in my earlobe. As far as hair color, I can't speak on that because I'm not really into all of the unconventional stuff.

That being said I have never regretted any of it. That is what is important. As long as it's what you want to do and you are of age then I say go for it. My mom complained about all of it, but I was grown and paying my own bills so it really wasn't much she could do. I didn't let it bother me and she eventually let it go.

i say go for it!!!! although im quite biased because i am a tatt lover and have tatts everywhere...big ones! lol. and i used to have everything under the sun pierced lol. i usually have an idea and then i just let my artist do what he wants with that idea, he's wonderful. i wanna get another one soon, its going to be of a piece of artwork i absoloutely love.

i have on my ears: 00 gauge, second piercing, industrial (r), cartilage ring (l), nostril stud, septum, left lip stud. and gonna get tattoos.

i say go wild. ;)

Okay, here's my two cents. :look:

I know how young people(I'm young too btw, lol) can get all caught up in how cute different designs are or how cool they might look. But to me, the designs need to stay on the paper or on the computer screen that you found them on. I think it's very sweet that you have a tatt of your grandma but shouldnt that be enough? You dont want to be one of those girls who has too many tattoos and none of the tattoos compliment each other at all. And as for initials, you already know that person's initials and so do they. So why would you need to permanetely put it on your skin?

And you shouldnt just base your decision off of what career path you plan on taking because you never know what the future might bring. You may find yourself wanting a job in another field that is not so accepting of certain body art. I look at it like this, no matter what job you have, think of it as if you were the president or someone of high importance, dont just say that your appearance can be whatever just because you're going into cosmetology.

Picture this, take two images of the same girl. One girl has no lip piercings, no tattoos, and no purple, pink, or whatever color hair. Now the other girl has purple black and pink hair, quite a few tattoos, and facial piercings. Tell me, which one would you label as being the more classy one?? Which one would you think the average person would look at as being more classy? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with what you plan on doing, I'm just trying to show you the bigger picture that I see. :yep:

Try it, what ever makes u feel good, however If you are trying to be unique, dont do the star tattoo's they are EVERYWHERE! and can look trashy, everything else go for it :)

well i must look beyond trashy

some of the statements in here just piss me off

Being black has nothing to do with it(I've heard that alot too). I have a labret, tongue ring, nose ring, 5 holes in each ear, 1/2in gauges in my both ears (and I'm thinking about going up to 3/4. I LOVE my gauges lol), I have a big ol' tat of a Phoenix and my daughter's name and birthdate on my forearm (more tat's to come. I'm SO additced now lol).I also had pink, black and blonde hair up until last oct. I think it will be INSANELY cute!!! I used to dye my glue in's hot pink after I lost the bottom part of my hair to a bad bleaching and coloring.

If you want it GO FOR IT!!! :)

i go to a top 20 university, hold two jobs in customer service on campus, and am a leader in several organizations. not classy? the most girls without the class are the ones who are questionable BEHIND closed doors. :nono:

i'm a huuuuge fan of piercings -- once i turned 18 i got my belly button, my tragus (twice), my nose, and my lip done. i say the good thing about those is that they can always be removed. currently i only have my belly button pierced, but that is because i lost my nose ring in my sleep and it closed up. as far as the weave, it's also something temporary. in college i was a blonde, brunette and redhead (then dyed it black) in the span of a year. that is where i would stop, mainly because i am partial to changing my mind and tattoos are too permanent for all of that, especially if you don't know what you want. i understand the one you have now because it's your grandmother (i thought of getting a similar one, but can't decide on a spot, so she will live on in my heart), but biffs are a no-no. please don't get a tattoo unless it is something there is no chance you can regret (ex your grandma's name).

ps -- i am pre-med, and was president of my school's black pre-med society. #2 public school in the nation, look us up. WAHOOWA!

love reading the opinions on here ladies!! iv always been told classy is a look, but then again every preppy (classy) girls iv ever met was either very bored and unhappy with just existing and not living or theyre were closet whores who covered up their insecurities by coming off as something people would respect because they had none for themselves. i dont think i would ever regret a tattoo seeing how i take everything as a lesson learned and we are all gonna die someday so it really doest matter, but i still dont want to get a pointless one. it sucks society is big on how you look rather than the type of person you are because generally they dont go hand in hand as much as ppl think :-/
