Have you ever tried mixing a little relaxer in your shampoo?

It's an idea I thought about when I got tired of the inability to comb through my hair. I wonder if it gives the same effect of texlaxing. Has anyone tried this before, or at least thought of it?

Why not just add oils like some texlaxed ladies do?

it would be better to saturate your hair in oil and conditioner then detangle with a wide tooth comb from tip to root

You'd still have chemicals in your hair, and would still have to follow up with a neutralizing shampoo.

Nope! The thought has never crossed my mind, even when I was texlaxed. Please go with the advice of just using conditioner and oil to comb/detangle or just do a regular old texlax--but do not mix relaxer w/ shampoo.

There are many threads on it and depending on how you do it you can keep your kinks like happily me or go more straight say like Taz07.

No, I guess I just like taking short cuts, now that I do my hair on my own and am natural. I don't think I could ever go to the salons for a texlax, and I don't want anybody putting it in because I would be forced to hear them giving me advice and the "I told you so". It was only going to be a dime size amount of relaxer, just to slightly make it a bit more manageable.

I have tried combing with oils and conditioner, it does help . I just hate getting oil on my hands

I guess I should just stop being lazy

If you want more of a texlaxed look, add oils to your relaxer and neutralize properly.

OP what you are talking about already exists and people from the Caribbean have been using it for decades. I used it and damaged my hair but that was before LHCF. It gave me the manageability I was looking for but it made my hair dry. I know now that I was using the wrong products because it is a texlax.

Saw some in my mom's cabinet this week-end. Anywhere you find Jamaicans, Vigorol is sure to be there. It's an ammonium thioglycolate relaxer which makes your hair really dry but it doesn't do so more than a relaxer IMO. I would never use it again because I am totally opposed to chemicals especially now that I know that I can use some henna or the Cherrylola to temporarily loosen my curls.
